Im planning to change my yellowish lightbulb to the white type. I took a visit to WRC and Redzone in sunway few days ago.....Redzone told me there are 2 types, either the link below or H12 which is even brighter....price is about the same.....but they say is taiwan brand and warranty 6 months....i wonder if anyone has installed from them and how long does your bulb last? I dont mind spending more but i just want it to last long....can anyone recommend me?

Mine is E90 LCI M sport

Don't waste your money buying the plug & play type as it isn't bright during daytime as I have tested almost all types. Best solution is to open up the headlights and installed actual LEDs as what WRC is offering. I did mine (e60) at WRC.

WRC told me they have RM480 type and RM1200 to change my headlight components to make it look like the LED type....is yours similar?

I had the RM1.2k type. In fact, a friend of mine also did the same for his e90 325i LCI.

How's the brightness compared to the f10/f30 AE ring?

DO u know the cost of replacement of the LED in case it is broken?
LEDs ring is cheap (about RM 150) . Both my e39 & e60 are fitted with LEDs angle eye and touch wood,,,,,been 6 years (e39) and LEDs rings are still OK.

6 years? worth the RM1200.....like Rm200 per year.......

Been looking for these for ages..same like Herbert,I've tried a few white bulb replacements and they're hopeless.

How long do they need to replace the rings? I mean for the work done? Do they have replacement loan headlights while the work is done?

hopeless like constant rosak? how long did they last?

Replacing the rings is pretty fast job but opening the headlights takes at least 2 hours. e60 & e90 headlights are the sealed type and to open it up, it has to go inside a special oven (temp 70 degree C for 20 minutes) and then manually cut the seal.

WRC Car Lamp Centre @ Sunway loan a set of e60 headlights for my car but unsure whether they have any for e90.

Hi Herbert,

Did you experience any fault codes since changing to LEDs?

Also, was any modification required to the halogen ballast to fit the LEDs?

Thanks!

1. No fault codes.

2. After installation, whenever you switch on your angel eyes, the LEDs rings will flicker for few seconds. This flickering is actually a built-in self check feature for our BMW. To get rid of the flickering, go to your regular workshop and use diagnostic tester to switch off the self test feature.

3. No modification to fit the LEDs rings.

Ok thanks Herbert... I think I shall give them a try.

The ones I curently have(white replacement bulbs) are hopelessly dim.

Hi Herbet,

Just to share something I found as I was scouring other BMW forums. While most owners find that plug/play LED bulbs are far inferior to LED ring replacements, there is however one particular brand that people seem to be recommending. Some of the pictures look rather convincing that they are just as good as ring replacements. Check it out

It's about USD240 including shipping per pop, so that's almost RM1k, still cheaper than full replacement. following are some user feedback

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1230601

some mixed reviews though, I believe this is due to the inherent e90 LCI design where there is only on light source illuminating the inner halos, and by the time it reaches the outer halos, it just fades in comparison. This didnt affect the e92 LCIs since the headlight unit was totally revamped

Looks impressive from the many pictures shown on their website but then again so does the many other plug & play types. Are you going to buy it and try it out??

After some research on the design of e90 lci headlights, i am inclined not to. The lux bulbs can't overcome the design flaw on the e90 lci headlights. If you are on an e92, e60 etc (correct me if i am wrong), you won't face this issue and the bulb replacement will probably look much better than stock.

For 2k, you can also get an aftermarket headlight like this one. Looks pretty wicked. Comes with the new laser light design. Drawback is it is halogen proje tors for the main beam, so some modding is required on the ballast to fit the stock xenons. I saw this on sale at Max Automart Gombak. It was meant from pre-lci e90s. So no ideal solution for now in the market!
