whistling sound everytime when i accelerate!!

Hi Guys! Need your help.. Anyone experience this problem before.. There is some kinda whistling sound coming from the left side of the engine bay.. The sound only comes during driving, when i accelerate the pedal.. When i press the accelerate pedal during the car stand still.. No sound.. only during driving.. By the way, i am driving a 318i (2.0) year 2003.. Can help guys!!

Guys,

Not sure whether it is related to your problem. If i'm not mistaken, there was someone in this forum who changed the "vent valve". It caused the enjine sounds like broken bearing. May be you could ask your mechanic to check that.

maybe the power streering pump?, belting harden soo make sound with the pulley?, tensioner bearing?, power steering system clogged/air lock?, cooling system leak?, air in cooling system?,Vanos hydraulic system?, idle valve clogged/dirty? idle control valve? butterfly valve? ? ? / ? ? ? ? wheel bearing ?? ??

i also noticed a whistiling sound from front left of my car, but i think it s coming from the wheel itself..
i tried asking mechanic and he said it might be due to uneven disc...hm..but i doubt it coz how come only when i press the gas pedal the sound come out? last time the sound can hardly be heard, only certain times, but now becoming frequent lk..

my whistling sound came only when I have aircond on. if no aircond, all ok. the faster i go the higher pitch goes LOL.. asked around and they said 'tambah minyak compressor aircond' or something. will deal with it later.

Same prob here, getting more frequent, coming from left, during short period when accelerate then silence. Pls let me know if you have a solution, yet to check with my mechanic.

The 'whistling sound' could be caused by many things..

The usual suspect will be vacuum leaks, or if you have a cold air intake it could be the sound the intake makes.

But one thing that is mentioned rarely is differential whine. Take it to your mechanic and let him diagnose.

used to face same prob. kawtim by changing the belting tensioner. rm100++ only. *used to act like mouth is whistling if chicks was looking b4 had it fixed. if jantan looked, act like it was the car next to me that is making the noise!*

Ive had the same problem last time... Ive changed the idler pully, belt tensioner+pulley... change to contitech serpentine belt (change the AC belt too which is not related)

My car is so silent sometimes i forgot it's already on engine

i'm joining the wistling club..had my gearbox serviced and after a while this whistling sound came..like a performance bearing sound at times..sometime when i'm in low gear the sound a bit horrifying..like M3 changing its gear..wonding what is causing it..so affraid as i'm in my hometown now and the journey back to kl would be damd cautious..will see my mech on tuesday...sound disapear when at higher rpm and no power loss..scratching my head again..sigh

While the wistle sound heared, try open the oil tap. If the sound dissapeared, thats mean the outlet air valve got problem.

It happened to me last time, and the result was cooling coil leaked. Before change my cooling coil, i did several test to confirm it like add the aircond gas first. if the sound dissapear, it must be leak somewhere, if still exist, try to add compressor oil. for my case, the sound gone after i refill gas, but it comeback after a month, did it for 2 time and confirm cooling coil leak. change the coil for rm 1300
