Hi guys, i am a newbie here and just got my new 320D.I was wonderring where were my car manufactured in until i came across the following info. Not sure if it was discussed or posted in this forum or not. How do you find out where your F30 (or any other BMW model) was built? The answer is located in your car's VIN number. The 11th digit of your VIN indicates the plant of assembly.A, F, K means production at Munich, GermanyE, J, P means production at Regensburg, GermanyB, C, D, G means production at Dinglofing, GermanyL means production at Spartanburg, USAN means Rosslyn, South AfricaW means Graz, Austria

Do Kulim supply to ASEAN countries? I went for a ride in a S'pore relative's F30 320i. Is it same with M'sian market cars?
First time I experienced start stop system. The sound when the engine restart, imo.., is not really refined.

My the 11th digit is a E, but registration card say "Pemasangan Tempatan" means what?

All Built in Regensburg Germany but assemble here?

You are right bro ... the parts are brought in from Germany and assembled locally in Kulim plant ... :top: ..

Go to sites like bmwvin.com and punch in the lasr 7 digits of your VIN. It will show you all the options installed on your car as well. One of the codes is S9C4a, which stands for CKD installation Malaysia.

Whats interesting to me is that the F30 SKDs carry VINs that start with "PM1..." and no longer begins with "WBA..."altough the 11th character is still "E"...Regensburg.

Now,this is a really worthwhile n beneficial knowledgeful thread since long....awesome post!!

hi guys, got a question to ask, for the new 320 owners, were you given the service handbook when you received your new car? I didn't get one and i was told that we no longer need it as all info is in the on board computer. Is that true?

If the car is CKD (assembled in Malaysia), there must be a minimum of 10% local parts used. Therefore a CKD car is not 100% imported parts :) I think these days BMW are SKD's (semi knock down) instead.
