Do you rely on your mechanics to buy the part or you source yourself. I realise Ipoh sell reasonalbe price for part since they are the BAvarian Auto at Jalan Ipoh since they r the stokist for BMW and Mini

save money, buy your own!

For major repair/replacement, I do my own buying. It save me about 20%-30%. Why? We buy cash! For the same parts, workshop will hentam you higher! Their cost higher (30 days term-mah), whacked u another 25% or so, wahlau! But for minor repairs, let workshop make a bit-lah!

Good strategy. One good example, the lower control arm bush for E60 is selling at Bavarian Auto at RM450/pc. Take note that the E60 you cannot buy just the bush only, you have to buy to whole aluminum frame.

One of the SC in Penang is quoting about RM1000 per piece.

the lower control arm fails quite often?

design flaw?

sapura auto has replaced mine TWICE to date under warranty and my car isnt even 2 years old.

I think all BMW model is designed that way for comfort and thus, less durable. E36 and E46 also need to replace this bush pretty often.. unlike Japanese cars, they can tahan easily 10 years.

What make matter worst is u need a special tool to open the bush..

This E46 M3 bush:

and this is the special tool to force the bush out. If not, you have use hammer to ketuk so hard, which can possibly damage surrounding parts..

bro kenny...wat is the sign that you get when the lower contol arm fails...

when you drive on gravel road, you will feel the loose sound at front suspension. Hard braking will also give the loose sound at joint.

where is good place to go for a reliable & good pricing service, with all the right tools and ability to upload new software.( AB no lah ..cut throat). I was looking at Heritage PJ, any senior got better recommendation or other good workshop choice :)..

thank bro!

2005 E60 on Dec :)

Last week I went to Lim Auto Alor Star to have my s/w upgraded to 27.1?. It is free of charge.

I went there for windscreen replacement and asked them to find out if my car has the latest version... then they upgrade it for free. Basically the cost should be around RM100+/hour and complete upgrade should be around 6 hours

No lah, this is the tool that install the bush back to the control arm stud without damaging the rubber portion.
