Anyone encountered problems with their Air Cond Compressors before this? Ive been hearing funny noises from it these few days, n that too, only for a few seconds after the aircond is turned on, but not all the time, normaly mornings, or after the car has rested, like after office...sounds like a loose pulley err something...any idea? :smokin::questionmark:

deep...naidu...hehe :p

but, since the sound is only for a few secs, may be difficult to troubleshoot...but...he's the expert and with his experience, he may be able to let you know what's wrong?

King82, ur rite..might have to make a visit there..
Astro, as long as dont give me big number for bills sudah..

maybe ur a/c recirculation flap got problem? In my case (E34) the flap which can block ourside air jam. I block the flap then no sound anymore.

Morpheus,
but this sound occurs while im on stand still, n that also, once i switch on the a/c for a maybe 2 or 3 seconds only...after that, the rest of the drive, its quiet...normally the first time switched on, morning usually...could a loose belt be the issue har??
i havent had time to visit Naidu lah, maybe this weekend..

Are you sure that the noise is from A/C compressor?? It could be from the blower unit (bearing). If it is from A/C compressor, most likely it is the compressor bearing.

yeah, in my case not eveytime it happens, it is so lucky that it happens when i bring to the mechanic so he quickly determine the problem.

no sure what sound u mean..

you can try pressing the recirculation button on/off to see if there is any difference for the noise not. If no difference then it is less likely to be that problem...

if loose belt the sound should be screeching i think...

if is strong vibration noise then can try changing the oil inside the a/c compressor, cheapest method to try.

All the above I have experienced in my E34, not sure if applicable for newer model though!

its getting louder...yesterday my neighbour also looking at me one kind lah!! sigh...

macha maybe you want to record the sound and post on youtube ke? eh just suggestion ny :)
But by the time you do that, you're better off using that time to drive to naidu's :)

Send it for checking ..

It could be the clutch bearing or the belt itself ..

In the last 3 weeks - i have changed 6 compressor !! And it all started with just a 'slipping sound'. I used BOSCH comp - where to find .... arrghhh ..

It's on my E34 .

Bro bimmerholic, i really record n put on youtube baru tau!! heheh..
I have to make that trip tomorrow morning lah bro, u know wut time he opens? gonna camp at his place from 8 am onwards..

Bro 535i, wah 6 compressors changed arr? Wut happened? could not detect the problem or what? kena kapak lah ur $$???
Your right, i did some survey online, and came to the same conclusion, its the clutch bearing, coz th esound is rather a grinding type. Belt im not so convinced, coz i replaced all belting quite recently.

Lets see wut the doc has to say..

1 charge only because the shopgives warranty .. Everytime the aircon engaged at high speed , the clutch will get burned. Mind you - these are refurb units.

This is a case of - got money oso cannot find spare parts. Forget abt using Japs compressor - won't last for even 1 day .. !
