Hi. I am experiencing terrible vibration at 120-140 km/h in my Z3.Took it for High Speed Balancing, and still having that problem. What other factors could contribute to such vibration?

btw, what is high speed balancing? It is similar to on wheel balancing?

Normal balancing is up to 10 grams accuracy. On wheel balancing up to 5 grams accuracy..

Hi! Check out http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/balancer/index.htm
My shop is using the Road Force Measurement system. It simulates the tyres on the road by applying weight, rather than just let it spin freely.

Meanwhile, my car is on brand new Bridgestones RE001, so if it's a tyre problem, not so likely lah.

But the rims, there are no bents or dents. It showed ok on the wheel balancer.
I am trying to get the shop to lend me their 17" for trial.

The Hunter look like a very sophicated machine.. Have not seen any of these around here in Malaysia. Mind telling where is the shop and the price for balancing.

BTW, did the vibration reduce in amplitude after 140 KMH. If it does, it usually the balancing.

Ceh! I thot apa Hunter changgih balancing... just another RM5 per wheel balancing machinery.. :D

If u have vibration problem after wheel balancing. Do the on-wheel balance method.

And by the way... one very crucial piece of information is missing here!!

What vibration? Floor board or steering? If floor board, then check the rear wheel. You only check the front wheel when steering vibrates.

Hope this helps! ;)

and Mr. Newbie ausserdem, please report urself at the Newbie section before we all kena fire for "talking" to u.. :D (cabut....:burnout: )

Steering and Floor are shaking... then sore arms.

The Hunter Wheel Balancer is in Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang. Heard from them that there are only two of such machines in the North. Cost is RM5 a wheel.

I got another problem, the front tyres are rubbing the plaster in the wheel arch. Bits and pieces are melted.

Funny... really funny... i m also having the same tyres also, RE001.. funny also that the vibration is also to that speed 120km to 140km, then a bit lesser after that..

had the tyre balanced, off wheel, on wheel, rims are perfect...

Looks like the tyre is no good in our cars.. even had it re-balance for the round shape..

Absorber okay or not.. ? Maybe we look at the wrong thing la..

Now if chassis is also vibrating, u have to look beyond the front wheel and its RWD car. So many possibilities. Need to look back into history of the car. When was the last time the car felt okay? then what did you happen? Accident? upgrade wheels? suspension?

Can also be drive shaft, worn bush etc..

after doing or changing the coupling long shaft,,it needs to be balance ...or will shake worst,, perhaps tis the promblem regards tqvm dan

had the same problem...then my tyre specialist found out the tyre is faulty, the inner sidewall was swollen and couldn't fit the rim edge properly...resulting in uneven fitting...went back to dunlop and claim warranty...got back 65% of value...

wah... so many advice from so many experts.

thank you thank you.

I just got to know from the tyre shop that the Balancing Machine is out of balanced! They are recalling to customers for a re-balancing. Ha ha.

Will try that out tomorrow and see how it goes.

If problem persists, will see a doctor. I really wonder how does the workshop determine if it's a drive shaft, or any other components. Such things usually doesn't show up on a computer diagnostic eh?

Now that's a responsible tyre workshop.. this is the first time I hear this... wheel balancer itself need balancing.. :D but possible la.. all machine need calibration like teaching a human what's right and what's wrong.

Good to hear that your problem solved...

So the culprit is the Balancing Machine... (most unlikely suspect)...
