I usually go to Heritage or M1 for servicing but where do you sifus go for tyre balancing & alignment? I've been to a couple of tyre shops but all their alignment machines have programs for UDMs up to year 2001 only. (my ride is a 2003 318i). They say the 2003 models have the same specs as the earlier models; so no problem. Is this correct?

Go to Sunny Car Care in Taman New Sea. I did my alignment with them 6 months ago for RM60. Till now, my car still tracks centre with nicely weighted steering feel. I vouch for them strongly without personal interest!

i go to GSM Auto in Jalan 222 PJ. Good service, been doing there for years.. No complain. Just did my alignment and Balancing after changing my rims and tyre in Hup Sun (Their Balancing and Alignment Sucks).

Sunny Car Care.. just did it this noon. Fyi, there are few mechs there doing the job but i would prefer ah Wah..

I go to Chia Auto in Damansara Uptown...superb workmanship and not at cut-throat prices

Consistent Distinction (Ah Wah) at Old Klang Road...purrfect

OKR kat mana? Is it near Pearl Point or near Heritage? :dunno:
What's the name of the shop?

i go to the new lenso in TTDI around 50 something for alignment and balancing and its nearby

M1 usually send their customers' cars to do balancing and alignment at Sunny Car Care. But their prices are not cheap. Just look at typ eof cars that go there. S-Class, E38s, E39s, E60s, CLKs......hmm....

But the consolation about sending your ride to Sunny's is that the restaurant next door serves pretty good noodles. :p

Hey dudes.

This is an old thread but can still be relevant.
Any good tyre shops around batu caves, rawang, sg buloh, subang, damansara utama?

Am also looking for a place to do alignment. Some directions to all the above mentioned places would be good.

Wheel balancing

HI there,

It seems that nowadays, whenever I go to get my wheels balanced the tyre shop says that because its a BMW and very "sensitive" the tyres must be balanced off the car and then on the car as well ("finish balancing" I think it's called in Europe).

From experience, I know that with everything in good condition (suspension bushes, wheels etc) balancing with the wheels off the car can be perfect (if balancing done properly) but I always have a tough time with the tyre shop as they inisist on the on-car balance being done.

It's not the extra cost of the on-car balance, sometimes the amount of weights added during the finish balancing just shows that the balancing wasn't done properly in the first place.

Anyone know tyreshop in PJ area that can do a good enough job with wheels off the car without having to do the on-car balance??

Cheers

thanks. but where is taman new sea anyway? is it PJ?

Hai goggo,

My experience is that if your rims (and tyres too) are okay, then off-wheel balancing is enough. With this kinda balancing, if the tyre still not vibrating at high speed, then that kind of balancing is sufficient.

But, if your tire still vibrate at high speed, say above 120kmh, then go for the next step that is on-wheel balancing. This kind of balancing is some sort of 'fine-tuning' the balancing esp when go at high speed.

Hope that helps, bcoz i know my 17" TSW rims have been subjected to a lot of knocking from the KL road holes, and yet, the car does not vibrate after i did my balancing, off and on wheel of course..

thx

What are the cons of not balancing your ride? Even if with normal driving the car seems ok with no vibrations?
