Hi all sifus, May i know what's the best option to "localise" jap spec radio? I was told that installing a booster doesnt help much.. yr comment is much appreciated. Thanks

Hi After6,

If your ride is a Z4, your Radio is actually a worldwide radio (doesn't matter jap or non-jap specs...b'coz all are manufactured in the USA). You don't need to install anything to receive M'sian radio channels. All you need to do is to SET the radio to "Asia-Pacific" area....to receive M'sian channel. The set-up procedure depends on what radio option (i.e. the Business Radio-CD or the CID radio) is installed in your car. If you're n't sure, go over to AB or Sapura. I'm sure the technician can help you. Else, report here the radio type you've. Perhaps then, someone could advice you the self-set up procedure, which is quite easy.

hi Fugowitz,

Thanks for the reply. My ride is a 2004 Jap spec z4, comes with sat nav system. Not too sure how do to the set up procedure tho. Appreciate if any of the sifus here can help out. Thanks

thr a thread ere telling u how 2 do it!!...I DIY myself is oni take u 2min to do it.

Since no one gave you a straight answer, let me try. (I did mine which is Business radio-CD). If yours is with Navigation, its the CID radio option.

1. Switch on Radio
2. Press "sel" button within 8 seconds and hold for at least 8 seconds
3. Function menu should appear on the display ....starting with the radio serial #. Press right arrow to toggle to the next function. Keeping pressing & letting go arrow until the "Area" function appears. (I believe it is in the 7th or 8th placing).
4. When in "Area" function. Press sel. Toggle the areas/regions available using + & - key. I can't remember the exact area wordings used, but use your intuition (i.e. Eastern region or South East..etc). At the selected region, press sel key.
5. Switch off Radio to exist service model and to save the setting.
6. Turn on radio and tune the FM channels to see if the range have increased. If not repeat process to find the correct region.

I hope my recollection of the steps are correct. Give it a try. Cheers!

Hi Fugowitz and jeffroom, BINGO !! I got it done. Thanks so much for your help. Owe you guys a favour....happy hour on me... how bout that ??:beerglass::beerglass::beerglass::beerglass::beerglass:

Glad you got it done. That's what forums are for. To help each other out. While you're at it, you could also set the GALA function (i.e. auto higher volume when at higher speed). Ain't our Z4's radio great?

i had a z4 japan spec for like 2 1/2 years now and i dont know there is such a thing
must give it a try!!

finaly i get local radio channel...
by the way, i have a dvd rom for the navigation but its only for japan
can i have this localize as well...??

I fully agree with Jeffroom that Zeemers should meet up soon. It has been awhile and Sanjav seems to have disappeared.

Tolorati,...... on your SAT NAV you can have it localized with AB or Sapura. I believe it cost between 1-2K.

I agree. It would be nice for all Zers to meet-up & have a run.

Cheers!
