What's that beep beep sound

Ive had my ride for several years now. It does not have a car alarm system. Sometime last year...after I unlocked my car with my remote and when I got into my car, a high pitch beep sound came on, continuously. It was not as loud as an alarm but was slightly louder than a mobile phone alarm beep tone. It sounded as like it was coming from inside the cabin instead of out. The minute I inserted my key into the ignition, the sound went off and simultaneously locked doors became unlocked. Since my car was parked by the road shoulder and it was very noisy, I couldnt tell for sure that the sound came from my car.Even then, I called AB and spoke to one of their technicians.....he was oblivious to what I experienced and told me that it was probably an alarm from another car.Just now (after several months) it happened again. The same thing, same beep beep beep sound until i inserted my key and started the car. I am very sure now that that beep sound came from my car. Everything worked as normal, lights, brakes, hand brake, cd player, drive, etc.What is that sound???? Can anyone tell me???

Zoggs...perhaps not enough beer!

No it wasnt my lights, if it was, it would have sounded when I turned off my engine before I leave my car. Anyway, the sound is a different kind.

Hmm yours happen when you have not inserted the keys?

I think i have that beep beep sound too. Only happens when i stick the key in (before going into ignition - not turning fully just enough to see the speedo meter go alive) and driver's door is open.

Or maybe the beep beep sound is the way your car says "Hey babe, welcome back, stick it in and start me up" :rofl:

That is right. The minute I open the door the beep sound came on.

This is exceptionally strange as this has happened only twice in my years of owning this car.

Zoggs: no it wasnt the reverse sensor (thats a different sound and besides, I havent even started the engine yet) and I dont have a seat belt warning beep.

Anymore suggestions from anyone?

okaw, i bet you took it a bmw mechanic and the beep-beep sound never came on ?

typical bmw stuff..

my understanding, could be the OBC sounding off..

I had the same problem with the beeps too but this happend while i was driving. I still havent figured out what caused it.

if the beep comes on beep..beep pause beep...beep, then most probably you'd have pressed your remote twice quickly, it opens the lock but not the alarm. next time it happens, try closing all the doors and press the remote again. you should get a long beep then doorlocks opens.

Hmmm...could be, didnt notice the beep sequence though. Thanks for the info.
