It is free!
Just call AB and quote the registration number (try to get the 1st original reg plate number if possible) or quote the VIN number/engine number.

I did mine when I checked on an E60 wished to buy and found out the mileage has been tampered. I called 3 AB branches ie HQ at Glenmarie, Sungai Besi and Segambut branch.

Out of the 3 I think Segambut one was the friendliest and helpful.

Google Auto bavaria and you will have all the numbers for every branches.

The dealer learned the hard way ie DO NOT TAMPER the odometer if the car is from AB as one can always check via service records.

hence I think local AB cars can command slightly higher market value compared to recon/imported ones as you have no or very little way to call the dealers in the UK or Japan to verify the mileage or history of the car.

Cheers

Local specs you can always check with AB but if it's AP recond then there's no way to check. Contacting BMW UK or Japan and they will ask you to refer back to BMW Malaysia because their policy is the current country where the vehicle is at (not where it is produced). Mine is AP from UK and dealer has adjusted the mileage to 21K when I took the car but I tried asking my mechanic to check but despite trying a few times, he still can't get the actual reading :) I guess these car dealers really know how to tamper nicely, haha

Just an update. I went to AB segambut and the SA just put the key into the machine (which has a slot) and it could read the VIN, Engine number as well as mileage recorded.
Just checked mine and the mileage to date is 213,000km! Luckily many parts has been changed. So I am ok. The car is good and well maintained.

All the service was done at AB until Dec 2005 with the last service done at 95,000KM and fully inspected by AB with lots of parts changed at AB totalling if I am not mistaken close to RM40k!

Parts changed in 2005 @ mileage 95,000 km and now it is 2011. Bro, all parts replaced in 2005 which was 6 years ago don't think could last that long.

Have to agree with bro Herbert, 6 years ago changed those parts when the car was 3 years old, now the car is 9 years old (yours is a 2002 isn't it) and had covered 213,000kms, perhaps time to spend another RM40k hahahahaha :4:

well the he did it all at AB. So I guess those are new original parts plus expensive labour charged by AB.
Back in 2005, E39 parts were not as abundant and as cheap as they are today with not so many secondhand/half-cut cars being brought in. It was still new then.
And the £/Yen was much stronger than it is today so parts would have cost more I assume.

I believe I can better his records by at least half the costs he spent if not less for the next 3-4 years of maintaining my E39 :)

Well...at least you know that the car that you have bought was well maintained by the 1st owner. New parts for e39 are plentiful and reasonable priced in the market now. Do find a workshop that is familar with BMW and I am sure you will have a wonderful ownership of the car for the many years to come. Enjoy your ride!!

FREE?? When I bought my car, called the nearest BMW authorised dealer and they quoted me RM350 for that. I went instead for specialist. Can't remember which BMW AD but somewhere close to kuchai lama.

Is there any way where we can check the price for servicing in AB service centre. Say 70,000km, how much will they charge?
