I just changed fan clutch but water still reaches red light and water inside the radiator is boiled. I tried to scanner my e39, no fault code found. What is the culprit ?

oh oh not good bro....red zone is danger zone....

scanning will turn up nothing as all these are purely mechanical...

i suspect bleeding not done correctly.boiling water means trouble.is yr thermostat working fine?try the "boil thermostat in periok" trick to see if it opens....

Did your engine shakes in the morning? When is the last time you changed your water pump. Have it properly checked bro

Wooooo not good lije bro moots say is true...
Is the bleeding done correctly...
Do u check ur thermostate...
Mine change thermistate during changing heater inlet n outlet pipe....
Think ur thermostate may be kaput oledy....

Aku ada stereng bas ko adaaa....

I dont know thermostat has problem or not. How to check thermostat is ok or not ? Bleeding is just open the screw beside the expension tank right ? Let the water out until no bubble right ?

Never change water pump before. Engine no shaking at morning, it still very smooth.

if only thermostat is ok............i scared is water pump

Bleeding should be at the 2 bleeding screw 1 at expansdion the other at the hose just b4 the thermostate housung...
1st bleed the screw at the thermostate until coolant comes out then tighten back...
2nd bleed the screw next to expanssion tank until coolants comes out then u r done...

Just done the bleeding with 2 bolts. Test idling is ok but when drove out water boiled again.

How u know ur coolant is boiling?
The temp gauge show max high..
Or check obc temp reading...
Well show tat ur thermostste housing need to be replace bro...

hi tweiboon,

I had similar problem last 2 weeks, mine is 318i m43, it went to 3/4 of the temp gauge after 1/2 hour of driving n worst during stop at traffic light (went to redzone) . So i need to keep the car moving all the time. At certain time my aircond also getting hot due to the hot radiator. So went to workshop in penang n the problem solved by changing to new thermostat and on top of that i'd done cleaning the radiator as well for peace of mind since it only cost me Rm 60 (for radiator cleaning only).
Hope this will help u.

Bro Tweiboon...
Have u ever change ur thermostate housing?
Also the heater inlet pipe n outlet pipe?
If not please make it in ur list of to do...

thermostat changed new with housing 2 years ago. Suspect is thermostat but how to check is thermostat having problem ?

bro tweiboon, just change both thermostats and see how it goes. I suspect it's either that or the water pump. Any grinding sound coming from the pump? That may indicate a pump bearing failure which is quite common for our cars at these age.

Best case is to do a complete cooling system overhaul, if you have not done so yet.

idle ok but once driven it overheats....my suspicion is the waterpump.
you may have the plastic impeller pump.over time the impeller lets itself loose from the shaft.at idle it still circulates the coolant somewhat but once on the go the impeller will not be able to do its job.

plse dont let the temps go even near the red zone coz if the head is damaged...its game over...
