Need advise, which one is better???My car is already near 500 000km , so its about the time for cooling system maintenance again(last changed Jan2009).So I've been looking around another forum and everyone is now recommending installing a new design of the water pump with a composite impeller. The metal impeller pumps have had bearing failures (perhaps because of the additional strain on the bearing due to the increased mass of the impeller).Of course the composite impeller is better than the old plastic impeller but if compare with metal impeller, which one is better?I just checked that the metal impeller is aftermarket unit so some said the bearing quality is not as good as oem composite impeller.BA(segambut) just told me that currently they only supply oem composite impeller water pump for RM120.Munich Auto got the aftermarket metal impeller water pump for RM200.Anyone had experiences with these two types of water pump?? Mind to share your experiences? Thanks.

Plastic impeller fails because the plastic becomes brittle when it ages. Metal impeller fails due to bad manufacturing quality and I've read about the metal impeller failing after a year. I would probably just go with the OEM composite pump because it is an updated item to address the issue of the older design pumps.

just to share. my experience use the metal impeller, it will kaput early. when u look at the corroded impeller .. its so scary. now turn back to composit item.. oem. peace of mind.

Bro, have u tried metal thermostat housing/cover???
Heard that metal cover have leak problem compare to oem composite cover.

Yes I've heard of the metal thermostat housing leaking as well, once again due to questionable manufacturing quality. If the surface that is supposed to seal is uneven then it will leak. The oem housing will probably last long enough, after all, didn't the original plastic housing last a long long time?

Use original la. No issues. Better then havi ng a head job done then being stingy on a water pump. Original costs about 495.00 new. Better than sorry 3k head-on.
