hi, i have this issue with my E30.when the car is parked downward sloping, water will get into the boot. but if it's parked on a flat surface, then usually no water gets in. (be it rain or washing the car.)i did a visual check, no holes. and the seals all look and feel pretty new to me. what can be the common issue? thanks. new guy to the old E30.

Have you checked your rear light assemblies? Since you have inspected the boot lid seals, this should be looked at next.

when i was removing the inner plastic felt cover, i had to remove the light assemblies. they look pretty well seal with no obvious opening for water to come in.

still, will give that location a run through. thanks for the heads up.

1. get a torchlight
2 .get a spare hand
3.get into the boot
4. get the spare hand to spray water
5. when in boot look around for leaks

your description on the water getting inti the boot is very vague
1. you didn't mentioned if its left or right or exactly which part is wet
2. quantity of water, is it bucket full or just drops
3. did you open and check spare tire compartment?

just change the foam thingy between lense and bulb holder.. cheap cheap.

the best way to check, as teejay says it... proven this idea is effective, no need to do guessing work and spend money...

mine, was a simple boot arm welding spot lose, hence the boot does not shut well...

cheers..

the leak is pretty bad, as in the two left right potion of the boot is soaked with water. later time was over a CM of water in there. and that's just after a quick wash.

the spare tire compartment does not get clogged with water.

will do your method. hopefully the guy dun forget about me and lock me in the boot. .P
