Sifus,My E36 328i have some sight Vibration when I Accelerate from standstill - the vibration become worst if I floor my pedal. My foreman said it is due to the old long shaft, since I'm in Penang, and there is no place to balance my long shaft, can any one direct me to anywhere in KL where I can get my long shaft balanced ?Thank you in advance.

did u already change the mounting for engine and gearbox?

If I'm not mistaken it is because of the long shaft coupling. Any BMW shop can change the coupling.

The coupling is very simple to change. Any tyre shop can change already. Just go to any BMW spare part shop and get the part first.

Thanks

i am familiar with e32 coupling, provided it is same on your car, i think you may need to change the entire shaft.

Whenever coupling goes, it normally makes a lot of squeaking noises, due to lack of any grease inside coupling and rust.

It would also vibrate at various speeds, not only on pick up.

From what's been mentioned above, i suspect it is a center bearing (if you have one), if not, than definitely coupling.

Furthermore, it could be neither. Vibration as such can come from differential itself or gbox. But 9 out of 10 times, it is coupling or center bearing.

Do let us know what was actual problem once its fixed. Thanks for sharing.

I had the same issue with the long shaft on my ride. Changed the coupling, centre bearing and all those stuff but to no improvement. Ended up buying a brand new long shaft from DE. Anyway, what gearbox are you currently using la?

Can Anyone help, I just need a place to change all those bearings and balance long shaft.

Hi members on forum esp. E36 owners,

As in my case, i've changed my coupling but to no improvement. Vibration still exist. Normally, E36 328 and 325 , u got to change the whole thing, meaning the long shaft. btw, second hand is very hard to get no matter 'kedai potong kereta" also very rare on this item. End up with brand new. cost ..... ha..ha... above 2K. my 328 GM gearbox with 4 speed. same problem. Balancing ???? sad to say , our local workshop or machinery shop for that matter has not up to that point, we are quite slow in this manner. Our special machinery for balancing job is quite outdated, i say. different from other countries which they had latest equipment n machines to do the job. Well, ur money u decide. Thanks. Just my advise.
