Two occassions of fuel fume in the cabin after filling up to full tank.
Several years back the "SENDING UNIT ASSY PLASTIC FUEL TANK" (#1 in diagram below) had hair line crack on the top plate. Replaced the unit (#1) and the problem was solved.
Many years later fuel fume in cabin happened again right after filling up to full tank. The fume would automatically disappear after 2 or 3 days. This time it was due to the aging rubber ring (#2) for the sending unit assembly. Visually I could not tell the difference the old ring vs new ring. But there was fuel found on top of the fuel sending unit. It was not even suspected by mechanic because there was no fuel fume in the trunk at all...
