Hello Everyone. I would like to post some useful information that can benefit everyone, generally. Please post any information that you reckon will deem fit and useful to everybodyMy first post will be on the Copyright Act 1987 (ACT 332) - Regulations & Orders (Laws of Malaysia)Section 13 (Part III) Nature And Duration Of Copyright(1) "Copyright in a literary, musical or artistic work, a film, a sound recording or a derivative work shall be the exclusive right to control in Malaysia - (a) the reproduction in any material form;(aa) the communication to the public;(b) the performance, showing or playing to the public;"The terminology of "literary work" includes,"(a) novels, stories, books, pamphlets, manuscripts, poetical works and other writings;(c) treatises, histories, biographies, essays and articles;(d) encyclopedias, dictionaries and other works of reference;(e) letters, reports and memoranda;(f) lectures, addresses, sermons and other works of the same nature;"Section 41. Offences(1) "Any person who during the subsistence of copyright in a work or performers' right -(c) dictributes infringing copies;(d) possesses, otherwise than for his private and domestic use, any infringing copy;(e) by way of trade, exhibits in public any infringing copy;(f) imports into Malaysia, otherwise than for his private and domestic use, an infringing copy;(g) makes or has in his possession any contrivance used or intended to be used for the purposes of making infringing copies;(j) distributes, imports for distribution or communicates to the public, without authority, works or copies of works in respect of which electronic rights management information has been removed or altered without authority"I think that should clear things out in terms of Copyright and as such as Intellectual Property and Plagiarism. I am certain that there are many lawyers in this club who can contribute more on Malaysian Internet Laws and such. This thread has no personal agenda as it simply is beneficial to all parties in this official BMW Club of Malaysia. Please contribute more and do not restrict yourself just on the legal perspective but on anything on how we can use it positively for our own lives.Cheers all! Have a good week ahead!

Good post Bix!

And may I humbly suggest the Forum's moderator or committee to have this post as a sticky.

Bix dude,
Such irony hahahaha....ROTFLOL
You copied that from where? You should quote the origin of that document too

Dear fuad4,

I have clearly stated the source in the second paragraph of my post. It is the Laws Of Malaysia - Copyright ACT 1987 (ACT 332), Regulations & Orders

There is not a need to subject this information as bibliography to a specific author(s) or publisher(s) as the Laws Of Malaysia belongs to the Sovereign Land of Malaysia and its citizens. Enforcement of a law shall be passed accordingly to its jurisdiction or how it shall fit to a particular situation.

Irony is when I do not do as I said. However, referring to this subject, the Laws of Malaysia does not belong to an individual or an organisation, but to a country and her people.

Aiya Astroboy, my dear favourite forumer,

Copying is not a problem as long as you do not benefit (monetary) from it and use it in a public space. However, even if you do use it in a public space, it must not be used to make monetary profit from it. If and when one uses it to be displayed for public viewing, one must acknowledge the original author by putting the whole context in quotation and name the source. In other words, bibliography.

I, personally do not have any problems with people copying from any source that they wish to do but please do it the proper way. Respect for the creator(s) is very important.

I wouldn't say it is complicated in any way but laws are laws. Rules are rules. It's all about respect and manners. Malaysia boleh is still Malaysia boleh but once caught, then one regrets it and try to follow the rules but it is rather too late, don't you think? At the end of the day, we will all ponder upon this and observe of how one was brought up. It's all about respect really.

Any posting that provoked or prompted this thread my dear Bix?

Good reading material... useful indeed.

Mate, No intentions or provoking needed. Just wanted to share this piece of information with all BMW enthusiasts.

I hope there will not be any negative comments regarding the laws of our beloved country as that shows of how disrespectful a person is towards law and orders. It is the same thing as being disrespectful to your parents.
