Hi all,I am sending my E46 to a shop soon for ketuk on minor dent, stone chip touch up and respray. FYI mine is titanium silver color. Humbly seeking advise from oldtimers here on the following:- I really wish to retain the ori color without any shade different. Is there any advise on the type of paint that I should instruct the shop to use? The shop quoted me Rm1k for the whole hood, whole front and back bumpers, 1 whole back rightside panel and 2 side mirrows (thinking of asking him to include the side skirt also), is that a fair pricing? I do not mind paying as long as I get quality paint done. I enjoy looking at the current sparkling silver shine of the car and hate to lose that just to save a couple hundreds ringgit on the paint job. kind advise please, thanks!

for 1K the price is fair ... as for paint to match ..that depends on how old your previous colour was last painted ...usually if it's more then 3 years it's a bit dificult to get the perfect match ...

TBH, I feel that RM 1k is a little too cheap for all that work. I'd really look very closely at the spray shop quality.

The ability to match the existing colour is not a question of paint used, it is a question of (1) is your paintwork consistent throughout the whole car? (2) does the spray shop fellow have a good eye for colour matching? If both are a negative then the chances of you getting a nice spray job is almost nil without respraying the whole car.

I paid RM950 to paint the hood, front bumper, two side mirrors, and the roof for my E39 last year. In the end the shop painted both my fenders FOC as a first time customer (maybe he mixed too much paint and got extra?)

Mind me asking, but how was the job bro? Met ur expectation(s)? Which paint shop did u went to? Thanks

i did all the touch up at yen fatt subang and soo seng batu caves..they met my expectations so far..

I did a bit of search in the forum and found a bit more information on the type of paint, glasurit, dupon etc and coating, thanks anyway guys for the info. I probably go to the same shop that gave me the quote, based on a friend's recommendation. cross my fingers hope my baby will be taken care of well thr.

Torn between retaining the original paint or painting the top vynil black, plus change the grills to black colour, paste some carbon fibre thingy, change the rims to darker color, sheesh it'll cost so much moolah... in the end, true sense prevail, i'm sticking with the 'ori but tiptop condition' principle :p. Hope I'll post the pics before and after here, malu la mine not worthy as so many superbly maintain udms in the forum.
