Guys ,Do you think it's possible to fit in 225/45/17 in front and 245/40/17 at the rear on M-Contour rim on my E36 328 ?Tried 235/40/17 rear with 215/45/17 in front without problem , but not sure if the 245s will touch the arc/body at the rear when loaded .BTW , is 235/40/17 and 245/40/17 very rare ? it seems that most of the tire shop does not even have a price list for these sizes .

Hey there,

I am on 245/40/17 on all four corners right now. Rims are 8.5J.
The fronts rub a but i don't have any problems with the rear and added to that my car has been lowered.

I'm using PS2s and they cost arount 900++ each.

Cheers.

Thanks Slide .

what do you think of the new dunlop sp sport maxx or the dz101 ?

i am using sp 9000 sport right now . it's quite noisy towards the end of it's life cycle .

Tried 235/40/17 rear with 215/45/17 in front without problem , but not sure if the 245s will touch the arc/body at the rear when loaded .

wouldn't 245 rear be a bit too thick for a standard engine? Sacrifice power for style?

Ideal sizes for the e36 -

1. 17 inch rims - 225/45 /17- front 235/45/17 rear (can also depends on ride height) or same size as front .

2> 18inch rims - 225/40/18 front , 235/40/18 ( or same )

cheers :D

dear three28 ,

actually tried fixing the 235/45/17 on the car but due to the lowered suspention set up , only 40 series tire fits .

have tried 225/45/17 all round , 215/45/17 on the front with 235/40/17 at the rear and now 215/45/17 in front and 225/45/17 behind.

still feel the 215 and 235 set up offers the best handling .

225 and 245 is always on my mind as I always wanted the "wide tire look" at the rear , and 245 is the biggest i can go on the E36 ( i think ) .

however , i have never tired 225 and 235 combo .

235 seems even more uncommon than 245 .

what brand and model r u using ?

I am on 225/40/18 all round . Prefer this as can rotate tyre easily . Handling at its best .

Good ol' pirelli Dragons mate ./

cheers :D

mate ,

very sad that Pirelli Dragon does not come with 235/40/17 . That's the reason I end up with the 225/45/17 at the rear . The shop owner must have got the size wrong and told me the have 235s Dragon that suits my car but it turn out to be 235/45/17 .
So disappointed as I was so looking forward in the tires .
the dragon must be great .

BTW , anyone using the Dunlop DZ101 or the new SP Sport Maxx ?

As for my choice of tyre size, i am using the sizes that Dinan recommend for their modded e36 m3's. On their least powerful model, they use 245/40/17's all round. I find the ride & handeling to be excellent and the wide tyre look is pretty darn nice. You can go wider but the arches have to be rolled.

Haven't tried the other tyre brands that you mentioned. Am on 40,000 kms with the set on my BM and just got another set for my other car and when the set on my BM wears off, you can bet that i'll be getting PS2s again!

Cheers.

Shouldn't have any issues. I'm using 18", 225/40 all round.

225/45/17 in front and 245/40/17 at the rear on M-Contour rim shouldnt be a problem,it all depends on the width of ur rims and offset.im running 225/45/17 8J in front and 245/40/17 at the rear wit 9J.wanted to go for 255 but not sure about the rubbing issue.Any one running 9J rim wit 255 tires on a lowered car without rubbing?
