Thanks willy for replying, did you experienced this problem before? My mech say its the long shaft need to be changed. But he asked me to use until I feel vibration first. I have doubts, so I seek for other opinion.

Get the mechanic to open up the CV joints and pack it with the correct spec grease. Vibrations will be a result of the worn center bearing. Second hand long shafts are extremely hard to find and if new (and if my memory serves me right) costs 8K.

Hi All bro's...
the long shaft need not change only the CV joints and centre bearing change to new parts...my 3 cents...

bro lithium,if u still remember we met the other day(months actually) at yazmeen's place. heard that sound from ur car n wanna tell u bout it. Its the same thing happened to my car nd i have fixed it at bomin. its the constant-velocity making the sound. in layman's term. the cv joint. to replace might cost 1k+, but he took it out and serviced it for 250. walla, no sound till today. tell me if i was conned. hahah

i think my car behaves the same la. but the sound is not too loud (maybe because i am inside the car). is it bad if we just let it be? and is it easy to diy?

Bro just my 3 cents...
At the moment the sound is not to bad...
Later on the sound becomes more louder due to the wear and tear more...
This long shaft rotates according to your driving speed...
There is centre bearing and CV joints with pin bearing inside...
The centre bearing will holds the long shaft as straight as possible during rotation while the CV joints to counter the rotation flexiblity...
The flange from the GB end is not straight to the rear axle...

p/s DIY...needs quite an effort....

yes bro hehehe..
not much fancy tools only very important should have the stand need to put the car on a stand after jacking up...
If there is table vise should be better...

The Long Shaft...
The nuts the mech is removing is where the cv joints is...

No need replacement. It's out of grease if it's the same sound as the video posted above. Recommended countless E39s to Naidu (next to KWSP, jalan gasing) with that same sound.

Tuan Bimmerholic!!

Thank you.. problem solved. A good service and a change of couplings!! RM500!! Naidu is worth every penny.. also did the front windshield rubber change with him.. just bought the parts.. only change labour..

THANK YOU SIR BIMMERHOLIC!!

You're welcome VT. Good to know you're happy with his service and that the problem is solved. :)

I think I might have this sound too. Recently thought it was the driveshaft out of grease (which was also out of grease) that made this sound, done that. The sound still there. I'll pay a visit to Naidu and check with him.
