I fitted the Naidu's modified aircond belt tensioner last year on my E34 M50B25. Lately I was experiencing quite a bit of vibration. Upon checking, I found that the housing was broken. My mechanic Albert of WP Auto told me that we cannot fit this kind of tensioner as the tension is too great and there is no room for movement. It will cause the housing to break plus it will result in premature failure of the aircond compressor. According to Albert those BMW engineer had their reasons for using the absorber tensioner. So if you have installed the Naidu's tensioner, please have them checked. Will upload some pics soon. http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=90&pictureid=413 http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=90&pictureid=414http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=90&pictureid=417

Uncle, i beg to differ... i been using this tensioner since 2004 for my cars and my current one works fine...i find it much better cos the tensioner usually kaputs after a year.. noisy also.

why yours broke is of two possible reason, one; over torqued nut and the other is caused by the air con compressor.. usually all the cars with the tensioner also fails due the nut breaks at the housing..
seen this many times at fatty's place.

most mechanics will blame on all types of reason to show that they know something that dun works...

cheeers..
