Hi all E30 owners, i would like to know what type(design) of third brake light u r using currently, if possible can show picture, i juust try to find 1 that suit my taste and of course can fit e30.Thanks :D :D

I'm using those white LEDs Hella 3rd brake light for my E30. It's cool if ur car is dark or light colored. Very bright indeed & can be seen from far. :)

Using the same ones as nd... but the hella sticker is gone cos i tinted my rear windscreen recently.

Considering to add one at the top part of the windscreen cos my M-Tech 2 spoiler blocks it.

For those using MTEC II boot spolier, the car behind wont see the 3rd brake light unless it's a truck or highriding MPV or 4WD following behind.

Actually, most high spoilers for the for the E30 will block the 3rd brake light if the 3rd brake light is mounted at the bottom of the rear wind screen.

yup..thats absolutely correct..have been honked once too many times as drivers cant view the 3rd brake light..maybe have to mount it at the top like the e46..

Am also thinking to move the 3rd brake light to the upper portion of the windscreen. Any advise on the wiring and how to dismantle it from the existing location. I'm using the hella one. Any info are very much appreciated

Over the years, I have been using 1st generation Hella Matrix aftermarket units in my family's cars which are not factory-fitted with third brake lights. I find them pretty good - bright and the bulbs are very long lasting.

The latest 2nd generation Hella Matrix - identifiable by its frosted look - are somehow not as bright as the 1st generation Hella Matrix. Try to get the 1st generation Hella Matrix if they are still available. They are indeed brighter.

Alternatively, go to the car junkyards and pick a nice OE third brake light that can fit your car in terms of cosmetics/appearance. There are lots of designs. OE third brake lights usually have decent brightness.

Do not buy cheap aftermarket third brake lights. They are not bright especially in broad daylight, tend to discolour or even warp under the tropical sun.

yeah i'm also thinking to install the brake light at the top, if someone else have done it love it to know how/where or can guide if DIY

The wires usually come from tail light throught the back rest area. not sure wherther yours been modified or not.

yes relocate the third brake light would be better for people who have spoiler..
