Telltale Sign

Guyz,I encountered this problem 2 days back.Tried the shiftronic on federal highway before hitting this problem on that day.When i reached home, the car was idle for abt 10mins then i shifted the gear from P to D,and the telltale light appeared beside the D sign on the meter panel and the car engine stopped.After starting the car again, it did not appear anymore till today but didnt dare to use the shiftronic after that. What could it be the problem? Anyone face this before.?need some advise on this.Thanks

A friend of mine had the same problem with his E39 some time ago. What he did was simple or lucky... we don't really know.

He disconnected his car battery for about 15 minutes and then connected it back. This action helps to reset the ECU to default factory settings. Sometimes the ECU tends to get cranky and causes these kind of 'headaches'. To date he hasn't seen this problem again.

No harm trying as it doesn't cost a thing.
