News from Visordown.com: Tardozzi signs three-year BMW deal ALMOST A month after we gave you the heads up on the hottest WSB story in weeks, it has now been confirmed that Davide Tardozzi has joined the BMW World Superbike team. The three-year deal will see Tardozzi head-up BMW's effort; the Italian team manager retired from Xerox Ducati at the end of last season, stating he was looking for fresh challenges. Tardozzi came under fire after rider Noriyuki Haga failed to win the 2009 World Superbike Championship - his decision not to enforce team orders resulted in Haga's teammate, Michel Fabrizio, gaining valuable points which, some say, cost the team the 2009 WSB crown. That said, Tardozzi, 50, is still one of WSB's most successful team managers of all time, having won crowns with Carl Fogarty, Neil Hodgson, James Toseland and Troy Bayliss. http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-racing-news-wsb/tardozzi-signs-three-year-bmw-deal/9121.html

Speaking on his new role at BMW, the former Ducati World Superbike team manager said:

"I am sure everybody will expect something from us. But it is tough. We are running behind everybody and everybody is stepping ahead and maybe our own steps ahead are not enough to close the gap. We are all working hard, and for me our point zero will be after the Portimao tests. Then we will see how the gap is between the rest of top guys and us. From there we really start. I know both of our riders have the talent to do it. I really feel it will be a huge part of my job to bring back those riders, and motivate my riders, Troy and Ruben. That was a huge bet that I made with myself, saying that I need to get back those guys on the podium."

This year's series kicks off on 28th February at Phillip Island, Australia.

and the S1000RR launch here is on 28th!!
