Suspected Wiring Problem

Dear Sifus,I have a unknown problem. Anyone out there experience that the Radio HU Turn off when step on the brake? It only occur after a long ride. The Meter light also Dim and bright when step on the brake.Already change the Brake switch but does not help.Please advise what is the problem.I drive a 318i M43.ThanksKelvin

maybe alternator problem bro?
maybe alternator not charging the battery from engine power causing insufficient power supply..
just guessing..

does the car feeling heavier and slow accelerating?

You have a bad contact for the negative or grounding terminal.

problem is where?
you need to trace from brake switch, locate the brown colour wire and check the resistance to the car body.

sign of battery gonna kong soon ....best is just try changing a battery from another car and test it out ....

Do yo have a voltmeter. If you dont have, you can buy an analog type which cost about RM30. (Investment for future checking as well)

Check your battery voltage before starting. It should be about 12VDC.
Start the car and check your voltage. It should be around 14VDC.
Press the brake. See whether there is an dip in the voltage. If there is none but your light dimmed, then it is not the battery.

There is no need to change the battery if there is nothing wrong with it.
