Sifus...I am thinking of installing a strut bar, replacing my anti-roll and air filter to gain more power as well as stability while driving and expecially on cornering. Do all these improve?Changes :1. Strut Bar2. Anti-roll3. Airfilter (maybe K&N)4. Voltage Stabilizer and Ground CableWhich brand would you recommend? And which workshop/shop does the best work at the least price!!! :yes!:

First of all, please update ur profile to include ur car model....

I'm a whack-corner-nuts so strut bars and anti-roll bars are a must if u ask me...

As for air filter, may not give u that many extra horses. May even lose some low end torque.

Voltage Stabilizer and Ground Cable: make sure it's done properly.. Else, it's a waste of time.

They do improve the drivability and handling but don't give you any additional hp.

Changes :

1. Strut Bar
2. Anti-roll
3. Airfilter (maybe K&N)
4. Voltage Stabilizer and Ground Cable

It improves but to what extent are you expecting?

1. marginal on a daily basis unless you track your car
2. big handling difference (biggest difference by far of this list)
3. minimal (you may even lose bhp on a hot day)
4. minimal (but this is quite debatable)

My own experience in order of 'bang for the buck' :

anti-roll bars

strut bars (front AND back)

K&N (panel filter)..... uurrrrm, next to no performance gain, but kinda cool tho... get free stickers

K&N (open pod) - no experience

Voltage thingy - no experience

1. Strut Bar
The purpose of this item is to provide additional bracing and strength to the chassis.
2. Anti-roll
The function of this item is to provide more control over the lateral forces a car experiences while cornering
3. Airfilter (maybe K&N)
Will improve drivability, don't expect major power gains, panel replacement for autos, open-pod for manuals
4. Voltage Stabilizer and Ground Cable
Minimal improvement

Am interested to know how the rear struts look like when fitted to the E46 - anyone here done it? Pics?

While on the topic, is the front strut enuff or both front and back? What if the rears only?

Thanks in advance.

speaking of E46 front strut bar, I got 1 unit for sale...

good point... anybody pls....

Strangeboy,

do the anti-roll bars, do not waste your money on anything else.

1. Struts are useless, unless you run lowered, harder suspension that will stress your shock towers more than stock, and if you also track your car, ie. high lateral loading, alot.

3. If you're going to change your filter, for a bit of psychological HP boost, just get a drop in (ie. replacement) K&N/BMC filter, DO NOT get a conical filter.

4. If you love your accessory shop owner, do them, if not, you're just giving him money for nothing.

for the E46 2.0 Valvy, there's not much choice for strut bars since most are designed for the 6 cylinder engine. From what I gathered, the strut bars for the 6 cylinder can't clear the intake manifold.

As for voltage stabilizer, don't think it'll make much difference for the pretty new E46. May give more significant difference for the older cars....
