Steering Wheel types

Hi everyone,Anyone can elighten me on the types of steering wheels on the E46? Really confusing for me as I see some 3 spoke ones (with a kind of hollow space in the bottom spoke) and some 4 spoke with multi-function. Which ones denotes what type of model? I see the 3 spoke in 318's as well as 325's. Thanks in advance.

The yr2000 model comes with a single stage airbag. Yr2001 onwards with a dual stage airbag. The three spoke that comes with a round airbag can be fitted on e46 325 Y2001 onwards and the e46 face lift Yr2002 onwards..

Take note, if the car does not come standard with a multifunction steering, then some wiring kit need to be installed to add a multifunction unit...

Then, where can made the cruise control for the 3 spoke MF steering ? My 325i 2002 Lifestyle doesn't work that. Heard that it can be functional to connect the wiring....

I think it depends on the model u have as mentioned above by the sifus. FYI, my e46 318i MSport Yr2003 CBU come standard with a 3 spoke MF (with cruise control) round airbag.
