steering response

dear all sifus...need advice on my e30 handling part. the steering response is bad.The front wheels turn bit only for the 1st +/- 75 degree i turn my steering wheel. after that the response in normal. not to say there's a free play. Is there anything i can do by adjusting the steering rack or something? or i need to replace any parts?please advice. thanks in advance

just go to ur mechanic and have them check on ur steering rack ..
if there's parts to be change ..try to change them if financially possible .

changed my e30 steering rack parts..(tie rods, ball joints) ..hurts the wallet but well worth it

i've just changed the ball joints, arm bush, wheel bearings and steering columb rubber coupling.
can say the problem appear after the repairs.

second hand is hard to find... recon type only one person has it, be prepared to pay thru your arse...

it's at puchong utama chop shop, bring your old rack to him.. exhange it with money also.

hi there im a new-b here in this forum, would like to tumpang ur thread,
just bought an e30 myself, im having the same problem with my stering, when im driving, the stering respond is very bad, its like freeplay, my mech told me the stering rack koyak already, how much does a new or recond stering rack cost n where to get it? or any other alternative? thanks guys.

recond E30 steering rack should be almost the same price as E36 steering rack. I think la. I changed to E36 steering rack. XD

the E36 rack sits slighter lower than the E30 rack. A reputable bmw mechanic will be able to solve that.

Guys, steering rack pricelist:

1. German Recon 6 month warranty : RM3k approx
2. Singapore /Local Recon/Used (Not sure on warranty) : RM1.2k- RM1.4k
if not mistaken but parts is like OEM water pump and OEM fule pump, time bomb wont' last longer as genuine parts.

Anyway how's your steering response now? Hard or easy turn feeling?
After changed Rack you'll felt steering tighten and slightly harder as usual.

haven't change the rack yet bro. was busy settling problem in my business. will change soon,,,,,,
