BMW GroupMalaysiaCorporate Communications 8th August 2011 Statement by BMW Group Malaysia on the Viral Email Spam Activity – Annual BMW Series Lottery Draw. It has come to our attention that there is a false viral spam activity via email entitled ‘Annual BMW Series Lottery Draw’ which bears the company addresses of BMW Group Malaysia and BMW Credit (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. BMW Group Malaysia together with BMW Credit (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. would like to highlight to our valued customers of this illegal online campaign. The online campaign, “Annual BMW Series Lottery Draw” is not initiated and recognised by both BMW Group Malaysia and BMW Credit (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and should be deemed illegal. We would also like to affirm here that the name used in the email spam, Mrs. Shahida Idris is neither an employee nor a representative of both companies, making this fraudulent representation. Recognising the need to protect the interest and security of our valued customers as well as the general public, we encourage you to be especially aware of this email spam activity and to not entertain the email communication nor enter into communication with Mrs. Idris or the parties. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this illegal activity but we greatly appreciate your patience and trust in our brand. We would also like to underline here that our database system is protected and that the email spam was spread randomly across the country and not via our database. BMW takes information protection very seriously and we will continue to maintain the same practices in conducting our businesses.
