Previously my car had a problem with noise at door seal area and the proposed solution by AB is :1.Change rain gutter -the most expensive countermeasure.2.Change door seal- cost equivalent as above3.Put 3M Teflon tape at door seal area-DONE but only minimise the sound4.Lubricate the door seal with Rubber grease or silicon.-This solutions is the cheapest and it works BUT it only last for a week. After trying trouble shooting all the noise from door area, now the new squeaking noise started coming from the gear console.I've tried to open the gear console cover (silver trim) by removing the gear knob. It is quite simple to open but nothing inside there any parts that is loose or rubbing each other.Any of our E90 owner here experienced the same problem probably can share their counter measure. Thanks & Cheers

Let me now when you find out the cause of the squeaking noise from the gear console. My E90 recently has this noise as well.

SC can't fix meh? We have lots of plastic covering our bottom, by any chance if you have scrap you bottom over parking ram, speed bump or divider , the cover can become loose and flapping underneath. Have a check on that while you are at it. Not easy to get under our car though.. be careful..

Recently I had the gear console checked by BM World at Desa Pandan. They open the console and found out 2 out of 4 aircond channel seal drops from its position. This aircond channel is to flow the air to the rear aircond vent.No wonder I can feel the cold effect on the gear console. This cold air leakages and condensation somehow has an effect to the plastic parts and created a noise from the console.

Hi etquah,

I found out the squeaking noise at the gear console came from our cigarrete lighter compartment.U may find out when u open it,the sound will reduced.I managed to reduced the sound by putting some lubricant oil between the flimsy plastic parts inside the compartment. Try check it out.

I have this sound as well, but haven't had time to sort it out at the SC. I have a feeling earlier batch E90's are more prone to these squeaks. Noted on later models (2007 onwards) even the front passenger seat belt clamp padding is improved so that it doesn't make noise when bumping against the center console. Later model E90's enjoy these small improvements to the car which sometimes make quite a big difference.

The squeaking sound from the gear console on my E90 came back. Any of us have a remedies to this problem? Or should I get the console change as what E46F said that this problem is prone for an earlier batch?

Hi All.....

I experienced the same thing mentioned above. Seems like sound coming from the cigarrette lighter box area. But only occassionally I felt it. Sometimes it is there and sometimes it is not. Quite intermittent.

But I want to share something with the rest of you. I found this while searching high and low for a closest fix/solution to this sound coming from the center of the dashboard just below the radio area (that's what is affecting my car).

Check this out: https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/display/tech/Rattle+noise+in+dash+near+Radio.+BMW+E90+3-series;jsessionid=25A2C87C405FEC7FBBBA5C0F2F96446D

On my next service, I'm printing this out and giving it to the SC to assist me to solve it. Hopefully... the sound will be gone by then. Kinda of irritating that the 3 series have such an issue whereas car like Audi A4, Lexus Ct200h doesn't seems to exhibit such a thing.

Let me know if it managed to help you solved this mysterious sound :)

As what u said, the sound coming from console on my car is also intermittent. It is weird when the sound go off while driving on the wet road surfaces or rain. Try opening the console and reinstall it and things get worst...thought of changing the cigarrette lighter compartment too.

Wah! You so brave one ah! Taking off the console your self! :top:

I can only tell you whether the solution recommended will solve my problem on the next SC visit. I'm asking them to do it for me as I don't have the necessary skills

Good luck bro... and do share with us if you managed to find a solution to your squeaking noise.
