SQ ICE Set-up

For all the ICE sifus out there, I am interested in a nice SQ set-up without breaking the bank. Is setting up for SQ possible under a RM2k budget? Please don't flame me ok? I have limited ICE knowledge.Would like nice crisp vocals with nice tight bassPlease advise........ ....

assuming your car's ice is still stock, its not impossible...

just that you may have to shop around and look for second hand quality speakers/amps/subwoofer/hu. it might be a bit tight, as simple (power/grounding and speaker) cabling and fuses will costs rm200 or more (you dun wanna skimp on these).

but if you arent that fussy... then perhaps can lor... not competition spec lah... and pls try to stay away from high end ICE players' cars... h34r: the poisons are lethal!

SQ under 2k might be a tad tight. A good amp is already above 1k. A good pair of speakers will set you back another 1-2k. Then there is the installation and cables. If its for your E30, you might want to change the head unit. There goes another 1k....

But you may never know. If you know someone willing to let go some good equipment at below market price, you might just be able to make it around the 2k mark.

let's go through your inventory list first. What do you have so far? We can work with this first and build up wherever possible within that budget.

SQ - Preference towards audiophile-esque tunes

Another one is called SPL - more for bass, ball shaking tunes
Then, there is the hybrid SQL.

if you hang out at IASCA website long enuff, you may fr time to time find used ICE at attractive bargain (if u dont mind used la)...these people are nuts on ICE, change HUs as frequent as servicing the car....i've seen some good stuff too at 0to100

Ok, here's another question, I have a buddy who has some nice equipment in his car but lacks 'tuning'. As I understand it, the set-up and tuning accounts for 50% of SQ and the other 50% is the hardware.

Any recommendations as to whom may be able to help him? Looking for some honest professionals who are willing to help by working on what he has and not end up spending big bucks. Willing to spend on wiring, fuses and such as what he has currently is pretty much DIY installed.

What he has:

A Nakamichi single disc HU
A/D/S components
A/D/S 10" Subwoofer
2x Soundstream amps 50Wx2
Precision Power Pre-Amp EQ
1x Rockford Fosgate Bass Cap

Again, I have very limited knowledge on ICE, so pls bear with me.

ICE can be obtained in all major mini markets, usually come in blocks price ranging from RM1.00 to RM 1.50 per block.

7Eleven sells them in packets RM2.50 per packet...they have a separate freezer to store them.

Have browed there on and off.......rather get the advice frm 'orang kita', that way if anything screws up, we know which house to burn! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!

Agree that there are some good deals to be had there tho'

If you can stretch your budget a bit higher, i can recommend some nice german amps and drivers for you... 2k is abit too low for a nice SQ setup. Maybe you can find some used ones...
