   It looks like a normal Friday, taken up second half off, wifey and me were cheerful, luggage in with all bekalan looking forward to a safe and smooth journey back to Selangor. Bester still, planning to go Soul Out... 1 minute into the journey, smoke came off the glove box... thought it was air-cond. But it's smelling somethin burnt. Stopped the car and checked the power distribution box, I SEE FIRE!!!!Ang Ang the prez came to the rescue. Before that Lionel adviced fuse 25 is fan blower? Call up my mech too and was adviced not to hit the long journey. So, air-cond off, the car is going to the workshop  What happened? Fuse at slot 25 is severely burnt, fuse at 24, 26, 27 are slidely affected. The cables for one relay in metal case caught fire. So the cables are damaged. I was actually panicked and almost pour water on this mess... I noticed fuse at slot 19 is missing. Never know about this. Can anyone advice what is this for? The mech told it is for Heater blower?? :dunno: With the burnt mark, I gather the worst case scenario would be changing the whole compartment? Does anyone know how much this will cost? Anyone? Anyway, thanks very much to Ang Ang for the ride and help! Cheers! Also to Lionel who took the trouble to his car to find out what's fuse 25 for? Also to Fabian and Kenny... thanks!Cheers,Geo (Alex)

Hey Armereth,

Thanks for the picture mate! I'll print it out and keep a copy in my glove box ;)

The problem is verified now but I get irritating noise come out from up the glove box onwards. The noise start when I hit 120km/h and get worst when I rev higher. Sifus out there heard of this ah?

Cheers,
Geo

Hi geo,

I think ur mechanic did not fit the glove box properly.
The bottom 2 clips must fit to the rail precisely or otherwise,
u will face this problem. Also check the fittings above the glove box.

Armereth and Fabian, no prob mate!
Lionel, if there's no TT at that time, we shall then meet up somewhere...

Wolverine, you mean to verify those fuses need the glove box + fitting around it disassembled?

I think I will take a couple of pictures and post it up here to be precise... thanks all for stopping by!

Cheers,
Geo

Yes the glove box + fitting around it need 2 b disassembled, since u said there were smoke inside ur glovebox...

Most likely the mechanic would hv changed the burnt wire too, n
most of the wires fr ur fusebox come down behind the glovebox,
exactly underneath the dashboard. So, the mechanic would hv opened
the fittings around there.

But again, it will b more precise if we could hear da noise directly...

Y dont u take it back 2 ur mechanic regarding this?

Regards B)

Hi Wolverine,

Thanks for the info. I will take it back to the mech to find that out...

Cheers,
Geo

I face the same problem and the fuse melt due to excessive heat. The blower just cut off. I have to replace the fuse with external fusebox but it look like still run abit too hot because I can see slight melt on the fuse as well.
Why E34 blower run and generate so much heat on it wiring circuit?
Is that blower prob?
If in this case, I think we may need to use circuit breaker. The circuit will cut off when it run too hot and will connect back when the circuit temp is back to normal operating temp.

alamak I also got this problem, dunno how many fuse Ive changed for the blower, infact the slot for the fuse is also slighty melted
