Help needed,Just done my oil change and drive for 600km but the the service indicator green color bar go down damn fast. Now left with 2 bars only. Check the dip stick, the oil still at maximum. What is the problem could be?Pls help me.....

even though you have change the oil and filter, you still need to ask your
mechanic to reset the service light with a 'reset' tool.

you can also reset the service light by jumpering with a wire at the
diagnotic plug at a terminal to ground for about 12 seconds.

can't remember which terminal but you can do a search in the
forum for the procedure.

OK from my database..

Jarance,

The thing happened after the reset.

I had consulted with one mech this morning. He said this kind of problem seldomly happen and he never encountered on it before. He said its an electronic problem, could be my control unit. It's nothing to do with my engine oil. Glad no engine oil leaking but still need to rectify this as once the green bar gone the 'oil services' light will pop-up....not nice..

I already done 5k km after last oil changed on my m40, but the service light still have 3 green, do I have to change the oil now or wait until all the green light disappear? I'm using elf semi synthetic....

the service level indicator is not only based on the distance travelled. It takes into account of the driving condition also. so sometimes it is possible to extend the service life of an engine oil. for example if you are doing a lot of highway travel, which does not tax your engine as much. or sometimes travelling a lot in jamed situations, which in that case will shorten your service span.
