(sorry... not to be offensive... just need a sincere notes)7)and any other things that i shud know offhope to get pointers from all the senior members... ur opinions n pointers are well appreciated... thanks....

buy the 520i 2.2L road tax cheap and much newer engine than the 523i horsepower is the same 170hp. 523i has the M54 engine but the 520i has the M54TU engine, hence electronic trottle cable.

my best bet on the 520i.

Crossfire,
Pussy is correct.
To add on, the 520i (2.2 litre) is CKD from year 2001-2003, double vanos with torque of 210Nm@3500 rpm and 170bhp@6100 rpm. This model replaced the 523i. Interior instrument panel (facelift) is also different from the 523i

Fuel consumption (least of worry), you could get about 8-9km per litre (city driving) and 10-11km per litre (highway).
As for maintenance (now you should sit up and maybe start to think  ), many factors involved here.........for normal oil change, it should cost around RM 450 including oil filter. Comparing with other Japanese models of the same capacity, I would roughly estimate 20-30% more, generally!

Bro,

Me thinks it shud go the other way round, eh ? CKD post 99' 523i has the older 2.5 litre M52B25TU engine while the 2001 520i has the newer 2.2 litre M54B22 engine. The 523i as we all know was replaced in the local market by the 525i with the M54B25 engine in 2001.

Crossfire,

Given the current pricing levels, I'd probably swing it between the later cars (520i vs 525i) with the M54 engines if I had to pick one. Happy hunting.

Regards,
VaN.

Jerman, normal oil change for 520i 2.2 is RM450? How many litres do you need?

Based on the Owner's Manual, it's 6.5 litres. In real life, normally it's 7 litres.

p/s: by the way, I just had mine done last weekend for RM 370 including Q8 Oil 5W/40 fully syn, filter & labour!

Well, as Van posted, I am sure the choice is only btw 520 and 525. go for the bigger cc and i am sure you will more fun.:D:cool::D

I am having a e39 528 yr 2000 and having own it for more than just a month and money that i have spend to make it better and better, it is all worth the money.

I am having a w124 Merc and I can truely feel the difference between the 5 and the E (eventhough is in different generation) and I can tell you, it is superb!!!
