Screeching Sound

Has anybody here experienced high pitched screeching sound coming from somewhere around the dashboard area towards the drivers side, it will come and go but sometimes have to switch of the engine and start again to get rid of the sound. The sound doesnt sound mechanical but more like an electronic kind.Anybody?

i have the same observation on my E39 528..have you come around with solution to this?
