My aircond went funny on me yesterday, as I started it to leave work, there was no air blowing out of the vents.. I could hear the air blowing from the dashboard, and the centre vent towards the rear seats, the demister works, but absolutely nothing from the front.Got back home and tried to do a little DIY, opened up the glove compartment, tried to access the centre panel where I think the AC is hiding (still waiting for my Bentley ;) ) prodded the wires and lo and behold, the air cond vents opened up after that.. I suspect that there's some flap which opens and closes depending on the settings, and there's this high pitched sound when I start the car (was there from the first day I got the car). Anyhow... has anyone experienced the same? Don't want to be prodding around the dashboard just to get the AC to work..

I think probably the wires controlling the flap is giving problems. Could be just a loose connection or if serious, the circuit board controlling the opening of the flaps.Al

Yeah, that's what I kinda figured too.. Never mind will wait for my Bentley manual before I go do the operation.. :)

I guess if the motor is stucked or failed, you can always remove the flap :D

I think removing the flap is one option They tend to give way due to ageing effects cheers

sure or not can just remove flap? things spoil already better replace... zip spoil already must replace... always open not so good... too much air not good for occupant...

With the flaps, you can choose to blow your legs, balls or head. However, most of the time, we hardly adjust the flap, its usually blowing to the face and that's a reason why its always stuck. Because its hardly used, so taking it out may not be a bad idea afterall kekeke.

Got mine from Amazon.com.. Tried to look for local alternatives, but they worked up to be more expensive and did not have the stock on hand. Just found out that one of my colleagues has moved to the states and will probably send more stuff to her, since its the Christmas season and Amazon's offering free shipment to anywhere in the US. Will let you know if I go on a bookhunt again and if you want I can pick up the book for you. There's a lot of details in it, and I seriously doubt if I'd actually carry out most of the repairs in the book myself. I mean, replacing the transmission on my own??  No way.Got it for my "education", at least I'll get to understand what the heck the mech is doing and why.. My current mech, who's not a self proclaimed bimmer specialist btw, has been quite helpfull in educating me as well, he has patient with me to bum around the car while he's working on it and answer lots of daft questions.
