If you dont mind me asking, how much did you get your spare tyre kit for? Thinking of getting one also.
I think it was between 1600 to 1800

Hi everybody. I am going to get my new 320i next week. I am very concerned about the rft as this will be my first experience. During test drive, I drove up till 120 kmh and can hear the tyre noise. However I feel that the noise and ride was OK. Maybe try for a few months. What is a mobility kit?

The faster you go the more noise it makes and u might wanna wait for the LCI F30 which is launching next month if you haven't already signed the dotted lines as BMW has addressed some of the flaws in the pre LCI cars we all have now.

The mobility kit consists of a portable pump and a sealant to seal your punctured non-RFT tyre.

Hi BMW sifus,

Newbie here 1st time buying UDM.

I have just placed a booking for a 316i new car, probably will take delivery next month. I am planning to sell my RFT and swap to non-RFT, any issue on warranty or BSRI ?

On another note, anyone keen to buy my brand new RFT they should be Bridgestone 17" ..... not pre-reg or demo so brand new tyres.

Personally, driving with RFT gives the best peace of mind..probably I'm a bit paranoid but it does give me that assurance especially at 200+kmh speeds, long distance travels and travelling in office/smart attires...

Without RFTs, imagine having to stop by the highway next to a speeding lorry and other vehicles...or in your office attire getting all sweaty to pump air or sealant by the side of the road..exposing yourselves and your luxury car to ppl with bad intentions..

I would rather compromise slight ride comfort for safety and performance of the run-flats..they're there in luxury cars for a reason..

Just my 2 cents

hit a bloody asteroid induced crater, 2 weeks ago on the way home around midnight. Both front right and rear right tire burst, inner sidewall [emoji31]. Under such circumstances I would have been stuck in the middle of the road waiting for flat bed truck if I'm not on RFT, regardless if either mobility kit or spare tire sitting in the trunk. Changed both tires next morning and was rather lucky both rims survived the event with no dent, instead my pocket is the one suffering the big dent as I decided to change all 4 RFTs as having 2 new donuts and 2 50% used donut a bit turn off. I strongly encourage to maintain RFT for your beloved ride. The premium is worth paying knowing that more or less it is bullet proof to most of the circumstances for our daily use condition and still can count on it to bring you and your family to a safe place for repair/replacement.

Seancorr,

Understand you are running on non RFT, what brand/model are you using ? How long did your RFT last before you switch to non RFT ?

Thx

they wear out faster especially the rear ones. only a year plus now. and im guessing 3k for 2pcs for the RFTs.

Anyone interested to buy my RFT 225/50R17 Bridgestone standard tyres that come with my 316 ?

I should be collecting my ride next month .... brand new car not pre-reg.

RM4400 for 4 tyres ..... planning to switch to normal tyres for more comfortable ride and save some money

As above I'd advice you to keep the RFT and use it. RM4.4k for the set is too expensive. You may find buyers if you decided to let the rims go at the same time along with the RFT for Rm4.4k though lol.

Agree with bro AwYongCarl. Rm4.4k is expensive. You might want to consider lowering the price or trade it in to the tyre shop when you upgrade to your new and desired set. Just my thoughts.

I replaced my factory 18" GY to Pirelli RFT about a year ago for $4k. I suppose you have to pay more now with GST and inflation factored in. My advise is to use RFT as modern BMWs are designed to run on it. RFTs are also more convenient and safe. The latest generation of RFTs are also less noisy and more comfortable. Remember to choose the ones with BMW Star rating though for the best performance.

My apologies here, newbie/virgin here on UDM and RFT .... SA told me RRP is 1.3k and they sell for 1.1k hence my asking price of 4.4k

revised asking price 3.6k for 4 tyres, reasonable ? :69:

Good luck with your sales :)

Anyway, it is a highly debatable topic whether the BMW vehicle are DESIGNED to run the RFT. For example, in the US, customer have an option of RFT or Non RFT, if non RFT is opted, the car comes with Mich Pilot Super Sport.

Personally, I would use it, and then use non RFT and make the comparison myself. My next set of tires will be 19inch Pilot Super Sport. The price of 19inch PSS is same as the 18 inch Pirelli Cinturato and so far it's only OKAY. Also I feel the tread wears down very quickly as I can see chunks of the rubber just fall of within 3000km of normal daily usage.

Well since no good offers for my standard RFT, I shall use them instead ...... thought of saving some $$ while having a quieter ride .... sigh

Hi All,
Juz for info, I juz changed my OEM GY RFT to Pirelli Cinturato 225-45-18 RFT at RM980/pcs at USJ 7/3A shop. My OEM GY Excellence RFT has served me well upto 60,000 KM. Time to replace...
