Hi All,need some advice..recently i found a few cars but the original cc of the car and the registration card is different.example is..318 - the cc on the reg card is 1.8 but the engine is either 1.9 or 2.0anyone has encountered this?

it is a known issue or prob?

cause i'm just scared get into some problems with JPJ

for the E46, the 318i comes in either the M4TUB19 which is 1.9 liter or the N42B20 which is 2.0 liter...
not sure what the reg card says but it should be 1.9 or 2.0

As for the E39 523i, it's actually a 2.5 liter engine...

Same thing with some of the merc engines, badged as C/E200 but actually 1.8 liter engine...

yeaps... what i'm saying is that the engine codes you have provided are true... but the reg card is different

even the engine code on the reg card is correct... just the CC

just asking in general....

cause so far i saw 2 already with this "issue"

engine number, model all same.... just the cc in the reg card different...

dunno good or bad la... but road tax cheaper a little ...

it's normal practice for car manufacturer to round off the cc number of their car... as in the case of 523i, it's just a matter of not to confuse the customer of the different max output of the engine, though it is the same capacity of the 525i... Basically, it's up to the manufacturer on how to code their cars. and what's important for us to know is, the exact capacity of the engine in our grant. like the m50b20 engine... it's not exactly 2000cc, but 1991cc. so the JPJ will calculate the price of your road tax not based on the badge that is being carried by your car, but the EXACT total cubic centimetre(cc) of your engine. If not like that, mati lah all the M-cars wannabe :p

everything is correct...

but the CC is the only one not correct.

according to the seller it is JPJ fault but till now... he never bother to change.. :motz:

anyone having this issue as well?

There are cases where the engine number was wrong ie taking the number from the alternator instead... but these are older cars registered in other states...

anyway, what's the CC stated in the reg card?

yen, careful not to committ to a car with non-original reg card.. e.g. an E39 using an E34 or E28 card. too many like these running around.

if its wrong, like on on of my old cars, jpj can change it for you.
i had an engine number wrong, all the did was to write in the proper one and sign it off.

hmmm.... seems like none here is facing that problem...

i think it is risky as i might get into some problems later...

is this really risky as i dont think JPJ is that stupid right?
