Hi all,Just would like to know what's the suitable engine oil for 318i. Is 5W-40 the right engine oil for 318i's? Fully or semi synthetic? Need some advice here. Thank you in advance.Cheers:wink:

IMHO the e36 318i is at least 10 years old (last CKD batch in 1999) so I think normally it would be better if a higher viscosity oil is used, ie instead of "40" look for "50", else you'll be losing engine oil into the combustion chamber.

actually it also depend on your car,i am currently using mobil 1 gold, which is 0w-40,for me it perform better than 5w-50 that i had used,so its up to your car and your preferences, try a few oil with different viscosity to make decision.

get any10w/40 will do ...since as what c-square mentioned that most e36 is already almost 10 years ...

therfore a higher viscosity would be good ...

change your oil every 45 days ..if you want to be on the safe side ... :),
but it's highly depends on your individual budgets and so on ...i did mine every 45 days on my ex M40 engine ....

thanks guys for all advices given:top:.really appreciate it..

cheers
