Hello guys,I just recently acquired a set of used OEM M-Tech 2 kit for my e46ci and discovered that there are these "holes" on the rear bumper that are meant for the reverse sensors. Unfortunately, my ride does not come with the sensors and i think i'd have to purchase a set when my M-Tech kit is fixed up. :( Anyone knows roughly how much a set of these reverse sensors cost ( new or used) and where i can find them, or is there any other way for me to seal those "holes" up without having to purchase the sensors? Thanks for all the help guys! :D

Hmmm, these holes can be used for putting James Bond-styled weapons and tricks... not necessary to shoot bullets, but can squirt oil and smokescreen, etc... Okay, cabutz, not offering anything constructive here... :p

Okay, on a bit more serious note... no need to cover up those holes... put some dummy plastic/PU/rubber covers there, and maybe on one of the holes you can put a little camera there, need to get one with lens the size of the hole, and you will have a reversing camera instead of some sensors. Of course you will need to upgrade your ICE to include an LCD screen else you will not be able to make use of the camera.

Hehe...thanks for the suggestions bro...any idea where i can get those plastic/rubber covers? I'm thinking of sealing up the holes with fiber before painting the bumper, not too sure if that can be done tho. Anyone tried doing something like that before? :)

Sealing with fibre can easily be done by any paintshop DolCe.

Thanks for the info bro meetoo, i just called up the paintshop guy and he said it can be done but he's a little worried that after some time the surface of the bumper might be uneven due to the sinking in of the previously sealed sensor holes. :( I asked him to go ahead and do it anyways coz i don't wanna spend the extra RM 2k on a set of useless sensors. :D

Off topic but may i know how much is the M-tech 2 bumpers (front and back)?

Bro E46enthu, i got my complete used OEM M-Tech 2 kit ( front+rear+s.skirts+fog lights) for RM 3.3k, with my old set traded in.

So guys, anyone else tried sealing the sensor holes with fiber before? Any pleasent or unpleasent experiences from doing it? :D

I've sealed holes with fibre before. It look quite good and hard to see unless you look hard. Good enough and cheap solution bro!

It is better for to install the after-market reverse sensor ... I think the price is around RM200 or less.
You might pay around same price should you want to seal and paint the holes.

Hmm...will the after-market sensors work just like the original sensors? Original=RM 2k+, After-market=RM 200, that's like only 10% of the price! As for sealing the holes, i don't have to pay anything extra because i'm getting the bumpers painted in the first place and the painter would just have to seal the holes before getting the paint job done, no extra charges. Thanks for the info anyways bro! :)

I fix my CBU E46 model with after market sensor too. Working well until today. Of course they need to dig hole then. If not how they gonna attach the sensor with wire and CPU attached next to battery area. FYI there are 2 types :
2 sensors : Rm 200.00
4 sensors : RM 420.00 with installation and recommended for Bimmers

I saw one after-market reverse sensor built into the number plate which does not require to drill hole onto the bumper. It's most fit to Euro car e.g. BMW, Merz... Price range RM2k+...

DolCe,

Why your M-tech 2 rear bumper got reverse sensor hole? The hole at the body stripe (original in black) or on the fibre bumper?

Bro m-sports,

Mine is an e46 coupe, the holes are on the bumper itself but not on the plastic stripe. Coupe bumpers do not come with the plastic lining.

Yup...

All the Coupe ( Ci ) series like that....Have style like M3 SMG II if change the color to yellow
