just sent my E36 318i for service. Mechanic informed that my radiator cracked and need to be REPLACED.Would like opinion and feedback from forumers on this, if true that the radiator is already cracked- can it be repaired without changing?- any reputable and reasonably priced workshops for this sort of works?- any estimate on cost? Thanks in advance guys.

cracked....which part of the rad is it cracked?the center core?the plastic sides?the expansion tank?

i went to a rad shop in jalan klang lama to fix my e30 rad.they cleaned the internal water passages and changed the 2 side gaskets and welded a leak at one point of the center core.cost - rm100.

shop is facing the main road/hiway...near a well known bimmer repair shop there.....a radiator tech specialist or so it is known as...... B)

i would send yr 'cracked' rad there and see if it can be saved b4 parting with moolah for a new one.

the centre core ken oni be welded if its copper. thos ori aluminum core kenot be weld using those arcweld. i know tigwelder ken weld alu but very xpensive n not all shop got...

the shop ken change the core to copper type if its leaking.. side tank oso they hv but betta check wit em...

Another radiator specialist is near by AB Sg Besi.
The new radiotar cost about RM600+

i changed my radiator recently, costed me RM750.... but later i found out that a new radiator is only Rm600 +

mine had a crack at the expension tank, instead of the center cord..... but changing just the expension tank will cost u about RM400, so not worth lah, so why not replace the whole radiator????

Yeah, i think mine is cracked near the expansion tank, can see some stain marks.

I'm being quoted RM900 for a new radiator!. What's the name of the radiator specialist near AB Sg Besi?

The RM600+ radiator is not the original radiator, it's OEM .... Behr made in South Africa. Original radiator is going to set you RM1100. If leaking is only at the expansion tank, then you only need to change the expansion tank and not the whole radiator .... should be like what willie said, RM400. You can get Behr radiator from BMW supplier like Bavarian Auto.

I changed my radiator for around RM800 including labour.

I would suggest replacing the radiator to prevent further problems, because, our weather sucks and our BMWs need the optimum temp to function. Now, it may be Rm800 or less. If you don't change, the temp reaches 100 deg and above, a blow up will cause more money... in my opinion.

I did it in Heritage.

I agree. Not to mention going to fark up your engine ... ending in overhaul. Never toy around BMW's cooling system. My friend previously had to overhaul his engine because he ignored the crack in his radiator.
