Q's about e30 m20b27 engine

Greets,A newbie, am puzzled on my soon to be completed minor restorations of a 1988 e30 m20b27, why were the manifold design on top such a way that looks like a spider or crab like ?Anyhting special about them ?Regards.

Yep, its an ETA alrite, my brothers(mechanics) have driven them KL to Ipoh vice versa last month, everything is in tip-top shape, its gonna be my turn next bringing it to KL soon.

the M20 2.7 ETA engine is one of the production engines from BMW itself lah...
it was produced to combat the rising fuel prices in the 80's.

The ETA engine was designed by BMW for the e28 525e to combat the rise in fuel prices during the crisis in the 80s. This engine M20B27 was designed to produced torque but not much HP.

They are nice and smooth for cruising but notthing much happens when you floor the pedal.

By now, you would have read that the 2.7 ETA is a much sought after conversion by the e30 fraternity. The reality of it is that the e30 modders are only interested in the block and the crank of the ETA engine. The rest is used for planting flowers around their gardens.

I hope this will clear up the 'mystic' of the ETA engine once and for all. The standard ETA is sufficient, but provides an excellent platform for modding.
