Dear Sifus, I am in desperate need for opinions. Last Friday my car overheated while on the way to work. Car was then towed to workshop. Inspection found that the hose from the expansion tank ruptured. After replacing the hoses car was diagnosed to find source of failure. As informed by my mech the failure was caused by inoperative electric fan which traces back to faulty ECU. Have also checked thermostat and fan relay but all seems sound. So now i've been quoted for 3k for a used ECU or a brand new one for 6k. Appreciate all opinions.Car is a e46 320ci M54b22Used ECU comes with no warranty.

Used ECU comes with EWS, i think will included the key as well. I been quoted RM 1500.

I think Its not cost that much. Ecu only cost around rm600 on ebay with ews n keys its hardly cost you 1500 for 320.

inoperative electric fan can also be the fuse if i am not mistaken

better check everything before changing the ECU

got a complete set from ebay uk. ecu, ews, key and locks for door and rear bonnet.

If u manage to change urself then buy from ebay for sure is cheaper alot then buy in Malaysia.............hehehehehe

Start from today u cannot go to BMW service center to order the key already if u really need a spare key.

some parts are worth it considering the outrageous prices at chop shop sometimes. My tip would be to do a survey first :)
