Power Steering "howling" sound

Recently noticed there is this "howling" - ong ong ong sound when I turn corners and the turning of the steering feel a bit difficult. Is that the end of my power steerling pump for my e34 ? Or other parts that are failing ??? From the e34 maintenance price list, a steering pump would cost around RM700-RM1100 , is that a new one or used ?

First thing you can do is check if your ATF level has dropped. Sometimes, a drop in ATF level, arising from a hose leak, can cause these sort of sounds. If the levels have dropped, you can just buy ATF fluid and top up. At the same time, look below the engine to see if any oil leaks.
