Petro consumption higherE36 318i?

Hi all Sifu, My e36 96yrs 318i ..i was drive 5yrs ..i now a day the feel the petro consumption is much higer go up to 150km/rm50petro..it was extreamly worse..previous if i not mistaken can go about 230-250km/rm50 petro.(petro price rm1.80/litre)? any pert come with problem? or does it means i ned overhaul my car engine? Can 1 hv face this type prob.? Other issue i notice everytime my engine run i can smell the carbon come frm ekzos.why this happen? coz of this make my car petro consumption higher? Any bro can share some idea? Thx and Regards for All....Beemer.

maybe your AIR FLOW METER got problem air fuel mixture not good .
