Pool, futsal, bowling.......anyone for running? Doesn't need to run fast, just need to keep going!!!!Last year the Penang Bridge Run didn't take place, and it seems 2006 will see the return of the run, which is on 30 July 2006 - more than 3 months away.See the website here.So anyone interested to take part? This is just the thing I need to get back into shape - something to aim towards. As I said, it's not about speed. I plan to do the half-marathon, which is 22.3km for the Penang Bridge Run. Personal target will be to complete it in around 2 hours 30 mins.I volunteer to start a training group, every Sunday 6:30am at the Lake Gardens. Since I am out of shape, the training can accommodate beginners. We have 3 months to build towards getting the stamina to complete 22.3km in 3 hours or less. It's easier to train in a group. Anyone????

I want to go for the Sunday training

but not the marathon,

u know me mah, how to finish :D

You just need to turn up at the carpark next to the playground. From Jalan Parlimen, turn right at the traffic lights. Then turn right again immediately and go right to the end, and you will see the carpark.

Presently, the group consists of......2 persons! We wait for no man, 6:45 am sharp will start the run after warming up.

Lake Gardens is the best training venue in my experience, coz there are plenty of routes to choose ranging from 3km to over 15km, all relatively safe, traffic free and shaded (when the sun comes out).

If you have the will, it can be done!!! After finishing the half-marathon, you will see 50+ year old just about to complete the marathon, almost 5 hours after the starting gun. That really put me to shame.

By the way, the reporting time for the run is 4-5am, so be prepared to get up early on that day..........

I would love to join, but too weak to jog on threadmill for 10mins... sigh.. dont think I will suvive the training oso... let alone the marathon. :(

Will try to make it for training sessions. If I survive that, then might just join the run.
