Still here watching you lot. All i am saying is overpriced is still overpriced whichever way you like to put it. If there are people out there who wanna drive the price higher because they just cannot live without or must have certain part on their car, so be it. Guess thats the price to pay. Its not about willing buyer, willing seller but rather stupid buyer, douchebag advantage taking seller. Okay this is just my take on this and I have to add that NOT ALL SELLERS are douchebags. A lot of them have been very helpful and sold to me parts reasonably priced to keep my car a daily runner and not just a garage queen.

Dude...if all the buyers think like you (and me too la), then they will all be merrily playing in their old-skool/classic/junk/rustbucket/etc. playground, but last I check we live in a capitalist world. just chill it. cheers.

Hi semhlee,
The prices at mudah are quite high (not all). But from my experience, the real price is about 20-30% less, not only on parts but cars as well.
You have to shop around. They asked for certain inflated price, it doesn't mean they are going to get that price. Like you said, millions of e30's were built.
Well..except for performance parts like alpina, hartge etc...

It's a free market. Just because someone is willing to pay higher prices for some parts doesn't mean he's stupid. The e30 is a 'EOL' (End Of Life) vehicle, so there's no such thing as a fixed market rates for the old parts anyway.

There are so many kinds of people with different behaviours and expectations. Some would think the parts are expensive, but then there are some would rather save the trouble of sourcing a long time for the parts they need and just pay the price which they deem 'reasonable'. Sometimes, the time and effort in sourcing for cheaper parts could be better spent on making even more money via work or doing business. At least it helps our country's economy going, no?

haiya...singh, u're prices too high la. that day i wanted to buy your rims, you said price is two cartons of ghee. don't be a d-bag seller la like TS said. I give you 1.1 cartons of ghee, and 1 bag ladu. ok ar? :bootyshake:

haiya...some ppl expect the prices of things to be always at a low reasonable price, even for EOL things like you said. so much so, that for those 'chopshop runners' who spend their time and fuel to go round scouring for parts, then buy the parts, take it home, take pics of it to post in mudah, and entertain calls, some ppl still expect these guys to do everything for a RM1 markup. they basically make the sellers life easy by doing all the dirty work, and the seller just has to browse online and call to meet somewhere. if they sell things for reasonable prices, then what's the point of doing what they do? they might as well sell nasi lemak, higher margins and just wait at the stall. lol

but to each their own :) no right or wrong, only ppl with cool stuff, and ppl with ordinary stuff :D

EOL can even mean the price will keep going up, as more and more are scrapped or crashed, means fewer left. In the UK, a decent E30 sells for more money than the equivalent E36 now, simply because there aren't so many left, yet people still want to buy them. It's same for parts, most of these sought-after parts are NLA (no longer available) from manufacturer and supplies are less and less every day.

Agreed. Stateside too. My e30 non-M costs me more to keep tip top than my E36M3. This is truth as an un-damaged e30 dash is rare here also. Labor to remove it would be astounding also (usa labor is $$$USD/hour) its not an quick task.

Late model bumpers, valance, sport seats, all are in low supply / high demand here. E30 is globally in demand like iphone.

Mtech2 kit is un-obtanium here, $2k USD is reasonable IF YOU CAN FIND IT (most likely not). it probably wont be in good shape also, and half of kit will need repair :(

I have been hunting myself for some nice rims for my own e30 and have not had luck yet!

E30 is becoming a cult car... better shrink wrap and bubble wrap it... :p hehe..

Yes, body parts are difficult to source from local chop shops since mostly sourced from Japan and there's hardly any E30 left there except for those well kept M3's.
Alternative sources would be UK or Aus (if you're looking for RHD specific parts)... But then even Aus yards import used parts from Japan, so chances are it's not cheap too.

At the end of the day, it simply boils down to supply & demand. Economics 101, scarcity of supply vs elasticity of demand.

The E30 being a modern classic has attained a cult like following. Hence there remains a strong demand for parts inspite of its age. I suspect over time as less E30 remain on the roads, the existing limited supply for E30 parts will get more scarce. No prizes for guessing what that'll do to prices of parts.
