Dear bro/sis and sifus...Any info/comments regarding the matters... I actually tried several times using the so call nitrogen gas, how ever for me its just the same. Need to pay some more... :( So need some input from u all... If u have already put in nitrogen gas in your tyre and decide not to continue using it, is its possible for u to just fill in normal air on your next refilling or u must empty the nitrogen gas first in order to fill in normal gas...? p/s: if this has been discussed b4, sorry... Could not seems to find it. Thanks...

erm..
my car using nitrogen gas..
theres no much different..
maybe ada rasa ringan sikit sangat2..

well, 70+% of air is nitrogen..
21% is oxygen..
tyre tu pakai 100% nitrogen..
lebey sikit nitrogen aje.. :D

but, the tyre using nitrogen gas seems not too hot,
than using the normal air / gas..

bout change back from nitrogen gas to normal air / gas..
no idea..
i'll ask someone from tyre shop tomorrow..

I think this whole Nitrogen thing for street cars is a pile of baloney.

The impetus behind a nitrogen fill is for stable air pressures in tires. Specialized Nitrogen from that tank is a drier state of air versus the ambient air that the gas station compressor draws. With no or less moisture, the air volume is more consistent and is not subject to evaporation etc. In countries with variable climate, this also helps reduce temperature-related variations/fluctuations.

Bottom line is nitrogen only comes in handy when you are tuning/fiddling the car and making different adjustments to the air pressures. That is why race cars run on nitrogen. Here accuracy/stability in air pressures is vital as you need a uniform base to make adjustments.

I say proper maintenance goes a longer way than money spent on nitrogen fills. Also, I'd buy a compressor so that you can fill/check your air pressure in the cool of the morning before you set off.

Like what KL2DC said, we use nitrogen gas to get more stable tyre pressure. Tyre pressure is important to get the max kms & maintain the tyre at optimum performance. Basically the machine dries up the air & remove oxygen.

Comment from taxi drivers: They have to check tyre pressure every week if using normal air. For nitrogen, they check only once a month.

Comment from non-power steering vehicle: Easier to steer, Less pressure.

Checking tyre pressure, checking alignment every 3 months or 5k, rotation every 5k-8k, proper balancing are things to be done to get the most out of your tyres.

guys, if u really serious abt heat etc.....which affects ur tyre pressure stability as well...

why dun u try isolate your brake heat from the car rim/tyre? That is biggest heat source to possibly heat ur tyre when u brake hard...

so no difference if u use nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, laughing gas or simple air in ur tyres.....at least for road. Yes buy ur own compressor, make sure u have a good drier ( to remove moisture ) and check ur ride every morning is a better idea.....

btw, for my kart racing - I use magnesium rims....and normal air. no wonder i slow....he he he

Gosh.... dunno how many times we've discussed about this.... but this time I want to dive in with my 2 cents....

I think nitrogen does what its supposed to do. Its just that most cars and most drivers are unlikely to feel the difference.

Its a tweak when everything else is optimised like in racing. Aslo in racing mere seconds count as that half second advantage accumulates every lap. In normal driving or even occasional track days..... maybe not.

Another way to look at it is the same way a lot of people look at K&N panel filters.... most will agree that it doesnt do anything.... maybe a little tiny bit (even then I may be imagining things).... so the argument shifts to.... no need to change filter for a very long time..... maybe even save some money in the process.

So the same would go for nitrogen..... instead of checking pressures once a week , check only once a month..... I know for the tweakers among us once a month is a very long time twiddling your thumbs not doing anything to your car LOL!

There is a more important issue here actually, something we've missed..... how sure are we that we are getting the real deal.... pure nitrogen? Can we tell the difference? Whats to stop the unscrupulous from givin you crap?

Bottomline? If you want to go the nitrogen way make sure you get it from some place you trust so you wont get screwed.

just use normal air la.why u want to waste ur money?not much difference for normal driving.unless..

I've used nitrogen b4 too but reverted to normal air cos not much diff with the former and it's quite inconvenient to go to certain tyre shops for top-ups.

I only use N2 if the tyre shop gives it to me free of charge!

And, in answer to one of the original questions, purely out of convenience I have mixed normal air with N2 for my tyres a number of times before and I can confirm that it's OK.

if i remember correctly, nitrogen particles are bigger than O2, so shud have less leakage (ye lah tu..), and have bigger heat capacity (dun get heat up as quick as O2).. but as someone already mentioned, our air is 70% nitrogen alredi, so not many wud notice the difference of the extra 30%..

dudes, it's only rm2 to fill up per piece.. u guys spend so much on your car parts, even your tyres are at least 400-500 times more expensive.. so, why not give it a try and decide.. not much to lose.. :D

Try it for your self. It ain't gonna break the bank!
If you can't feel the difference, then revert back to air...
