Diff I believe is due to power being quoted in ps and bhp

I wonder if there is a difference in the US spec Z4 sDrive28i and Euro spec Z4 SDrive28i. Paul reports different output figures from the link 3er posted above.

"The second car in the BMW stables to receive the new N20B20 4-cylinder direct injected turbocharged petrol engine is the BMW Z4, in the sDrive28i model. The first model to get the engine was the BMW X1 xDrive28i.
In the X1, the N20B20 makes 245 horsepower at 5,000rpm and 350Nm of torque from as low as 1,250rpm, which is slightly less horsepower but a whole lot more torque compared to the engine it replaces – the 3.0 liter 6-pot that in “28i” tune makes 258 horses and 310Nm.
We expect the engine to be extended to other BMW models as well – there’s surely going to be an upcoming new 1-Series 128i, the F30 328i and perhaps even the F10 528i will become 4 cylinder powered."

The inline-6 will still be around in twin turbo petrol and diesel versions. They're legendary and still smooth, just more expensive :D

I might sell my 335i sedan for the new F30 328i N20B20.We'll see..

I bet they will sell the E90 328i with the new engine......just to finish off the e90 stocks before the F30 hits our showrooms. And that would make a lot of us bloody confused...wait...don't wait...wait...don't wait....

Aside from a newer car, any reason why? It seems like a step down engine wise IMO, the 335i still outperforms the new engine plus it's far more tunable. Only problem would be the HPFP failures...

Good question.. and u're right, the number one reason is cuz its a new car with newer features.Secondly,I'm moving onto two wheels very soon.I'd imagine this would give me the majority of my speedfix, more than anything else on the road/track.So I'm kinda winding down on four wheelers, but not thoroughly. So the way I see it,the F30 328i should give me enough performance to make me happy.

But this is just my planning, which might change.. hell,I might even keep the 335 and tune it up further. We'll see..a lot depends on how the superbike thingy will turn out.

Actually I like the E90 style more... It would be best with the I4 turbo combi, though NA I6 is also sweet on it's own... That's very temptating... Have to save and calculate liao...

How true do you guys think E90 + I4 turbo will come into picture.
But I am a little bit worry with this new engine.
U guys know BMW lah...

I'll reserve my comments on the f30's styling till I've seen the real thing..judging by how the f10 looks,I truly like what I see.BMW's design language post-Bangle is just fantastic..love the new 7,love the new 5.
Having said that,I also love the e90 LCI's look..if and when it becomes reasonable,I might just do an LCI upgrade to my pre-facelift e90.

I find the post-Bangle designs very predictable when say comparing the 5, 7, and what they did to the 6 series vert. I expected more WOW for the 6 series vert, but it was a little too bland in terms of design. Hopefully they'll be more daring with the new F30. Some of the renders actually look very good, but based on what I heard, it's just another 5, 7 design but smaller i.e. - not gonna be too exciting.

I guess beauty is subjective.. while some might see Bangle's exploits exciting, others would see them as ugly and monstrous.I belong to the latter group.I love the latest design language, where all the beauty are in the small details and how they gel together into a beautiful shape.I can't get enough of the new 5's looks..

Been thinking about diesel and with the new N20 twin scroll, now in dilemma between this or diesel.

Same here... one solution for me is to keep my 335i and get an X1 20d or 28i for the wifey.

Turbo DI Petrol for sure. Makes more power, similar torque, and a whole lot more potential to tune. Should also be significantly faster stock over the 4 pot diesel counterpart.

So far the contact seems spot on about the new 3 looking like a baby 5 and 7.. Check out the latest light camo pictures of the F30. More of the same thing ... again.
