Hi all, I've been here browsing since forever. Never register as member though.I find this website very informative and extremely poisonous for UDM craving person like me. My previous car was a MERC, w203 and w123 but have to let them go due to parking space and some other stupid reasons.Currently I'm driving malaysia's LAGI BEST car. Even though it's practical but i miss the germans.I'm thinking of getting the BMW E46 325 SMG year 2003 from a friend of a friend. The car is in immaculate conditions and gorgeous. Wanted to get it without getting a buyer's remorse. The car mileage concerned me a lot, it's going to be over 200k and it is an SMG.Should i buy it or should i just get a cheaper E46 325 with lower mileage and restore it myself? and that, is the question.my budget is around 60k to 75k. Meaning I can still eat properly without starving myself to death even after service/repair. LOL.Hoping to get guidance from Sifus here.attached are the pictures of the gorgeous SMGhttp://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=27758&d=1358701315View attachment 27759View attachment 27758View attachment 27757i've been poisoned!!!!!!Thank you and good night.

Correctly stated!

Welcome bro...maximise your budget with the best car you can find. It's best to get a good base car to start with, then the mods can come later when budget permits. Just my 2 cents. Do join us for tt sessions.

Welcome Azrie, nice prospect that you have there.
I think we do have an SMG thread somewhere in this forum.
Get the car checked by a specialist inclusive of a full scan. Test drive-most important. Then is when you know the car is right for you or not.
Then have some spare money for repairs and maintenance.
Then have some more money for mods...hehehe
Good Luck and mod well.

Hello. If you are keen on an SMG, better read up threads discussing issues related to that particular gearbox. Then you can take the plunge with both eyes open. Good luck.

Yup, I'll have to warn about the SMGs too. Can be quite a pain IF things go wrong. SMGs do have a few common problems that is greatly discussed in a number of forums. The other issue with SMGs is that they are not something easily diagnosed or fixed by any normal garage. It requires special tools and you could end up having to get it fixed at a dealership that may cost more. As Mizhan has put it really well - "take the plunge with both eyes open".
