HI All, My name is Soma, I am new to your forum but a long time member of both Z3mcoupe.com and Zroadster.net and BMW Victoria here in Melbourne, Australia. I am moving to Malaysia with my family, my home belongings, and hopefully my 1999 Cosmos Black Z3Mcoupe. My company will support this move. However, because import tax and stamp duty seem SO HIGH, it does not seem at all logical to pay to import...some threads have suggested upwards of 150% duty? I have searched through your website and found several threads about import. One of the threads suggests My Second Home but this is not applicable in my situation. Another suggests there are certain import loopholes in the Customs system. If anyone has some actual import experience they would like to share on the topic, it would be much appreciated. :top: I would enjoy making new BMW friends in Malaysia and to bring the M would be great!FYI here are some of my previous threads at Z3mcoupe and Zroadster.netthanks and hope to here from someone soon.cheers< SomaBMW Club of Victora F1 at Albert Parkhttp://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30030&highlight=somaSpacershttp://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11023&highlight=somaFix for leaking constant pressure valvehttp://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12303&highlight=soma

Well, I'm really not much use in so far as providing the answers to the questions you asked, but I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, that's all :)

Thank you for the warm welcome.:top: I suppose you wouldn't know anyone owning a Z3mcoupe or Z4mcoupe in Malaysia would you?

Welcome to the forums Soma.

With regards to your question regarding ownership of the Z3 MCoupe, they're pretty rare here, Z4 Mcoupe, I believe there are a fair few out there. Not too sure whether they are on the forums though. Loads of Z4s here in Malaysia though, but the Z3 didn't really catch on here in Malaysia.

Soma,

Beside the heffy import duties & taxes, you will still need an Approved Permit to import your car into Malaysia. Since you will be moving over to Malaysia at the expense of your company, suggest that you contact your freight forwarding agent and I am sure they will be able to provide you with all the relevant procedures and information on car importation to Malaysia.

Can you qualify for TalentCorp....for returning Malaysian professionals? Then its duty free for 2 cars! And can bring in 2 maids too without levy.

HI All,
I can't believe almost 1 year since I got offered the job in KL....anyway....now its official...I am moving to Kuala Lumpur in January. Thanks again to those of you who respond to this post last time. It is not going to be possible to bring my 1999 Z3 M Coupe. I have to sell it:stupid: Yeh...this is no fun because you always loose money....but atleast I can start searching for a nice BMW in KL/Klang Valley. I'll be looking for a family car this time since wife, two kids coming as well. I will go with E46 or E39 with a bit of power...328 or 530 would be ideal.

I will keep my eye on Mudah.my and this forum as I get closer to the move.....really looking forward to getting to know one of the best cities in Asia!!!
cheers, Soma

Hi Ariff,
Yes I will miss it very much....it is a special, one of a kind. There is only one currently advertised in Australia...in estoril blue...nice colour.

If I put mine on the market it will probably take 6-8 months to sell....I looked for over 10months before I bought this 3 years ago. Now time to say goodbye and hello to Malaysian-Government-Taxed BMWs Crazy Prices.....I thought Australia was expensive:eek:
